I bought my new hard drive recently, and I backed up my database onto it, following these steps http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=101.

I then uninstalled postgreSQL and reinstalled it on the new drive, but when I open up holdem manager, it can't initialize the database, probably because PostgreSQL is on a different drive now? Do I have to uninstall holdem manager and reinstall it on the new hard drive as well?

Please follow the instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling .net framework here: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=14

If the problem persists then Can you reinstall like that this time and tell me if it works:

1) Make a backup of "Config" in a safe location
2) Export your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
3) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
4) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
5) Reboot your computer
6) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Upload HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.07beta.exe
8) Test if it works
9) Overwrite the backuped "holdemmanager.config" file in the new Config directory to recover your settings
10) Test if it works
11) Import your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
12) Test if it works
