I am formatting my windows partition since I only gave it 30gb and I am running out of disk space. (postgres folder is 15gb)

What files do I need to save in order to save my database?

Hi,

you could either export all handhistories or backup the entire database with pgAdmin.

For more information: http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=12

I did follow the steps in the FAQ and made a backup of the database. The backupfile is only 343mb!?

I have 15k players in my database and the postgres-folder is like 15gb. Did I do something wrong or can I go ahead and format my disk now?

edit:

my PostgreSQL/8.2/data/base folder is 4.77gb
PostgreSQL/8.2/data/pg_log folder is 8.79gb

Are the files in pg_log folder needed or can I delete them to free up disk space?

edit2:

I did skip this step but I guess that doesnt matter?

Before you start make sure to export your hands using the Database Management Console first as a precautionary measure. To do this stop any current imports. Go to options > database management in Holdem Manager and click connect. This will bring up the screen below. Choose export hands.

That step of exporting files is a backup in case there is problems with the export and restoring of the database.

Have you any other postgres databases for PT ect they could be taking up space, the best way to be sure is to reopen the database and export the hands aswell in case the restore dosent work but the export and restore should work fine but im unsure what size your database should be.
