Hi, for the last 2 months I've been travelling and using my laptop. My db is currently on my laptop.

I'm going to be using my desktop more so I want to be able to share the database between the two.

Right now I'm currently backing up my DB as per the FAQ here:
http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=12

I've also been reading through about how to set it up with 2 computers sharing a DB on an external hard drive.
http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=154

I feel if I was starting fresh I'd be able to follow the instructions above but I'm just a little confused since I'll already have an existing database.

I'm going to have to install postgreSQL and HEM on my desktop, and i'll point the data directory on the install to the external drive as per the faq.

At what point and where do I want to restore my db to?

From this point on will I be required to have my external hd plugged in when running HEM otherwise i'll get errors?

thanks, i hope that was clear.

You dont restore your database?

It describes what to do in that FAQ if youve a previous install of postgreSQL which you obviously have so follow that.

You will always need the external hard drive plugged into either the desktop or laptop for it to work.

If your stuck on a particular step please quote it and ill try and help
