I just installed HEM on my laptop running Vista...blech. I used a backup from my desktop (XP) to do a restore on the new installation in order to duplicate my desktop database on my laptop. This all seemed to work just fine.

Then, I played a few hands on FTP, nine hands to be exact. I tried to import these hands using the auto import just like I do on my desktop. 6 of the hands came in fine, 3 of the hands did not.

I have tried to purge all of the hands and re-import them. I have tried to just re-import them. The problem is the software seems to think all 9 hands are in the database even though they do not show on the reports, etc.

I have purged the hands using the purge tool. When I try to re-import the hands, they seem to import but the results box says that 9 hands are duplicates.

Bottom line: The software seems to think the hands are in there...but they are not.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

BTW, I have verified that all filters are off and I have the Vista UAC off and run as administrator.

Can you create a new database http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=146 and see if they import there. If they do its likley a problem with the old database. If so then export the hands from the old database http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173 and import them into the new one

Is there any reason for this to be true? I mean I literally just created this database and imported a gazillion hands w/o a single problem as far as I can tell before these 9 "live" hands.

I tried to create a new database and got this error in pop up window:

DB Control Panel
The following error occurred when trying to initialize the Holdem Manager database: Connection establishment timeout. Increase Timeout value in ConnectionString.

When I click OK the error closes and I'm back to the database maint window.

Does this help diagnose? Sounds like HEM isn't talking to postgres fast enough or something????

Also, what's next?

Thank you.

Can you update to this version http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Hm1.08Beta.exe and see if that message continues to appear. When your trying the new database just import those hands that wont import on the other one to test before importing all the gazillions of HHs

Yes the beta version got rid of the error so I could set up a new database. I created a new database and was able the import the 9 test hands in question without any problem.

So...I guess the next step is start from scratch again? Since everything restored fine I'd really like to avoid the hours of time if possible.

Do I have to reinstall everything and restore from the backup again?

Also, should I be running this beta version for the long haul?

Thanks again.

Just in case there was an issue with the restored database it might be better to export the hands and import them inot the new one: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=173

Thanks...what about using this beta version as my permanent version? I gather since it's beta, it's not really ready for regular use??

Yeah you can use the beta no problem, its pretty stable but as with all betas theres more chances of little bugs
