"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000007b). Click on OK to terminate the application."

... this is what I get when I click on "Articles (6)" in the main window menu.

I'm running 1.08, or ought to (I ran the updater which told me it finished properly but the HEM window still says "1.07" in the top left) and I'm using WinXP64 Pro. I don't think this is a new problem for me, but can't be sure.

Edit 2:

Followed steps 1-8, but I still get the same error when clicking on "Articles". Is it the same with the articles as with DBControlPanel.exe that in WinXp64 I have to run it manually or some such?

Have a look at this FAQ, should solve it: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=132

No, you misunderstood me: This is with the Articles, not DBControlPanel.exe. I'm just saying that the error message is similar, and I'm wondering if it's a similar problem - i.e. do I need to run the hmarticles.exe manually (which doesn't work).

If it helps, I should point out that if I try to start it from inside the application, I get the error listed in the OP. If I try to start it by running hmarticlex.exe manually, I get the "Articles and Training" window up, then a big window flashes and then disappears. So it seems the bugs are similar, as it works "better" if I run it manually.

Any updates on this? The problem remains with 1.08.22 and behaves the same as far as I can tell.

You are probably using a 64 bit OS? You will need to run hmarticles.exe manually from the folder and as long as you are using a 1.08 version then it should launch for you
