I was messing around with my hud config when my comp froze. After restating it i tried the start hem and this pops up "An error occurred while loading the prefs files:root element is missing." What do i do?

Can you reinstall like that this time and tell me if it works:

1) Make a backup of "Config" in a safe location
2) Export your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
3) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
4) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
5) Reboot your computer
6) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Upload HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.07beta.exe
8) Test if it works
9) Overwrite the backuped "holdemmanager.config" file in the new Config directory to recover your settings
10) Test if it works
11) Import your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
12) Test if it works

One more thing. My HEM might not be working. When i hae auto import on it says it didnt find any new files. when i stop auto import and import from the folder my hands are saved in it works. How do i get it to auto import from the folders where my hands are saved at. It use to do it automatically. Thanks so much for your help

You have to reconfigure your auto-import folder for FTP exactly like that (remove your old configuration if there is one too): http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?topicid=43&faqid=142
