View Full Version : Hem Import freezing comp

Since a couple months ago, can't remember which version update, my Win 7 64b PC started freezing intermittently during sessions (obv HEM working) and I couldn't figure out what was the source of this annoying behaviour

This lasted for several minutes w/ freezing /defreezing (word?) every 30sec and lasting 3-5 sec each time. After about 5min it would disappear and never happen again

I checked the memory/the vid card (all top of the line at the moment of the PC's purchase /bulit myself etc) everything was on par and working flawlessly

There's no shortage of "power" (intel quad core at 2.8ghz/8gb/2TB hard/ati 5770 vid etc) so I began a process of elimination to find the source

Obv , I ended up figuring this happens because of the Auto Import in HEM and I tired a lot of stuff (deleted it, updated older etc ) and nothing works

I play on FTP and PS FR and in my opinion there some errors (or the format of the hand history/summaries) in the FTP/PS files (mostly FTP) which will cause the HMImport to run very very hard when importing and cause this incredibly annoying lag(freezes tables out/player/skype/aim /browser etc)

As soon as I close down HEM that crap still happens .. so I wondered how come ? well, the HMImport is STILL running in Task Manager, 1min after I force shut it down , the lag disappears .

So, WTF is going on and how can I fix it ??

Update PostgreSQL, turn off logging, remove the three winner columns,
For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for those files, even if the firewall is turned off.

you listed all the noob / standard crap that I know about since at least 2 years ago

let me know something else cause this stuff was done last time I made a new DB, late 09

edit: for the sake of others who might have this problem too , I will redo all the optimization steps and let you know if something goes wrong

This happens the moment I try to start the optimizing process

Also, on the Import behaviour, it basically spikes the CPU(s) to close to 100% usage whenever it freezes for the 1-2 sec periods

as a ref note, the DB is 400mb in size, logging is off , it was optimized about a year ago

OK , I tried reseting the license key in HEM in order to re-activate it again.

No dice . What gives ?

I have to start my session in 1/2 hr and this is highly frustrating

You have to reset your serial to get rid of the "no more activations allowed" error.

However, the "ERROR: invalid page header in block 544 of relation base/16397/16435" is a sign of a corrupt database.

Can you still connect to Database Management (dbcontrolpanel.exe)---> create a new database--> start HoldemManager.

---

If you still get the "no more activations allowed" error, read: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/24/ICan%27tActivate%26RegisterHoldemManager (and check the Internet Explorer proxy settings)

Yah already done that, however when I try reseting the profiles (I only have HEM on my desktop - this, and my laptop which I rarely use (backup )) this script error shows up and it won't do anything further

http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq138/fbg1919/licenseerrors.jpg

My db is not too big, 400 some MB , and I think I will try and make a new one , do I just follow the FAQ for deleting the old DB, create a new empty one and just import all the hands exported from the old one ?

I don't want to use the backup/restore feature in fear of getting the bug to transfer over to the new DB

Thoughts ?

Accessed dbcontrolpanel.exe, made a new db , I will import old hands into that as soon as I can get p0ast the activation problem

I tried deleting the files specified however, I have no holdemmanager.exe.ldat file to delete

Did find the .lic file, deleted it, but this didnt help. Time for some TeamViewer help or we can fix this somehow ?

I will take a break today and try to fix this till tonite cause I need the HEM badly tomorrow.

Let me know
