View Full Version : $ EV Function bug?

Hey guys, I've started a new database and the '$EV' function seems to be working incorrectly.

For example in one hand on FTP 50NL I got all the money in on the turn with AA against the villains KK, won the pot when the river bricked his 2 outer and then it comes up as a negative EV play.

On another hand all the money went in preflop against 2 villains, I held AK, they held AQ and JQ, I have 55% equity and it again comes out as a -EV play....Can someone help me out, or explain if I'm misinterpreting the idea of this function.

Thanks.

Can you attach a screenshot.

Are you speaking about the EV diff stat?

Basically, imagine you go all in with 50% equity in a 100$ pot and you win it (yeha it happens sometimes...). Your net profit will be 50$, but you know in the long run that your supposed to win or lose nothing, thus the average result is generally 0$. Here the EV diff will show -50$, because you are 50$ above the expectation when you win.

Yea I mean the EV diff stat, from your explanation it sounds like the stat is working fine I just misinterpretated what it mean.

So in the case of my 2nd example I won $41.50 after getting it in PF against 2 villians who held AQ and JQ, the EV diff stat shows -$18.54, does this mean that over the long run this play has an expected value of +$22.96 ?

Because I thought it meant the expected value was -$18.54.

Oh and the $EV column for sessions shows the overall expected amount you should have won in the session instead of the difference like shown in the individual HH?

If you give me all the infos for the hand, like pot size, stack size. I can calculate it easily. Just copy/paste the HH.

p.s.: For your AA vs KK, have you won the hand? What do you mean by "bricked"?

The $EV is what you are supposed to win.

Ex:
You are all in in a 10$ pot with 50% equity.
You win.

Net profit: 5$
EV $ diff: -5$
$EV: 0$

Net profit + EV $ diff = $EV

Check that too, I have illustrated a graph: http://208.109.95.123/forum/showthread.php?t=4913
