I know I can set HEM up to work on 2 computers and networks.

I am wondering if it is possible to install it on a external HD so that I can use it while I'm travelling on computers that aren't mine? At an internet cafe or something similar for example.

I'm kind of thinking no unless the random PC has Postgres installed. I can't just install that on the external and make the whole thing portable can I?

Thanks

You can setup you Home pc to act as an PostGres server. This way you have to enable access to your pc - via portforwarding - for PostGres. This way you can access you PostGres server from anywhere if you can get HM to be portable this could be a solution!

That would be neat if it works. I won't be able to test that for a few weeks though.

Any comments from the staff on the feasibility of that?

Here is someone who does the exact same thing only then via a home network instead of internet.

So it is possible!

Ok, that's interesting. To be tried once I get moved to a new place and have my own internet connection again.

Thanks for digging that up.
