View Full Version : Different Avg For Column vs a Player in Reports

When I look at the average for a column like pfr in the Players tab I notice that it is different than the average given when I look at an individual player.

For example, my small DB has the 3bet report tab that shows result analysis at bottom of Average value 4.2, median value 3.4, and SD of 3.72

However, when I pick out a player and view analysis, it says player X has "Very High 3bet 6/38 15.8% (average 5.6%)

So one avg is 4.2 and another is 5.6.

What am I doing wrong here.

Not sure exactly where your getting these from, can you post screenshots of these where it shows the sample size and also make sure all filters are cleared

Sorry for the delay. Here is an example. I circle the difference in CB stats.

The average under the column is 64.9%.

But in the little player analysis box it says average is 70.9%

I see this in other areas like pfr and 3bet%

In that example you have it filtered for just january 2009 wheras the hud would be overall stats

True... however, I started the DB on Jan 1.

I tried having the start date go to Jan 1, 2001 through Jan 2009 and same thing.

However, I did notice at the top it says I have 4176 players (in the tab) and only 4119 at the bottom where the averages are.

Is there some way to make sure no filter is on?

64.9% is the average from all the players in that list, 70.9% is the player you currently have selected in the list

Sorry to be a pest.

But it says that player is VERY Low Flop Cbet: 74/178 for 41.6% (avg 70.9%)

So that guy is at 41.6% and its saying its low because the rest of the DB is at 70.9% correct?

Yet the column says 64.9%.

Sorry if I'm being a noob here.

Have you deleted some players from the database at any stage, i noticed from the screenshot that there is less players at the bottom of those average columns yet the Player TAB has more players.

No I haven't deleted anyone.

Since then I started a new DB and have a similiar problem. At the top of the tab it says Players 3778 yet when I run the report (no filters) it says 3702 players. I'm guessing this is the different in the averages. Any idea why the players would be diff?

have the same problem! filtered the data for nl200 and it says avg 3bet is 8.2%. if i click on a player it says "very high 3bet (avg 5.6%)" which is a huge difference. i just want to know the avg of all stats for nl200 6max, but i want the right stats obv.

Player Analysis window:
The "very high 3bet (avg 5.6%)" are all pre-set values.
They're not actually the averages from your database.

The Player Summary window at the top does show your averages, but they're based on the total number of hands.
So instead of:
Player 1 (100 hands): 3bets 0% + Player 2 (10 hands): 3bets 10%--> average is 5% it will do:
( (100 * 0%) + (10 * 10%) ) /110 = 0.9%--> usually gravitating the average towards the hero of which you have the most hands.

tyvm! already thought they were pre set just was confused and found this thread. one more question: how do i find the avgs of other sstats like "raise first"? down there theres a drop box and it say 3bet stats etc i looked there already abd couldnt find that stat and a few other stats. is there a way to add certain stats to the column or smth?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to add stats. (

And not all stats are available, because a HM stat, for example "raise first" actually exists in HoldemManager as three different stats:
-as a HUD stat
-as a popup stat
-as a report stat
(each with its own formula, despite the fact it's the same stat)
So it's very time consuming to add a stat to ALL three.

HM2 will solve this issue. This will make it a lot faster to add new stats, and EVERY (new) stat can automatically be used for all three (also reports/popup).
Thus allowing you to add ANY stat to these reports.
