I just purchased HEM yesterday. When I click on the icon to start it up it starts initializing the database. Then aftger 1 second it comes up with

An error occurred while reading the config//HoldemManager.config file:Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 1, position 53.

Holem Manager will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you.

When I press ok to this is

An X appears with Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.

Anyone know how to fix this? when i click continue it just goes to initializing databse but never goes beyond that. I d/led HEM on my laptop and desktop at the same time and my desktop runs it fine. any help is appreciated.

Can you reinstall like that this time and tell me if it works:

1) Make a backup of "Config" in a safe location
2) Export your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
3) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
4) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
5) Reboot your computer
6) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Upload HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.07beta.exe
8) Test if it works
9) Overwrite the backuped "holdemmanager.config" file in the new Config directory to recover your settings
10) Test if it works
11) Import your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
12) Test if it works
