View Full Version : Repeated errors forcing reinstallation

During my session, I'll get an error message that says:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The handle is invalid."

If I click Continue, the program freezes and I get this error message:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket."

Then it just freezes and, if I quit and try to restart the program, I get this message:

"An error occurred while reading the config//HoldemManager.config file: Root element is missing.

Holdem Manager will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you."

... followed by..

""Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Cannot create a file when that file already exists."

Just based on forum searches based on the last two error messages, you recommend reinstalling which works and allows me to access my database for about 5-10 minutes before it either repeats the whole cycle again during the very next session or, most recently, just spontaneously by itself while I was reviewing my last session.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Please follow the instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling .net framework here: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=14

If the problem persists uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL aswell http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177

And Can you reinstall like that this time and tell me if it works:

1) Make a backup of "Config" in a safe location
2) Export your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
3) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
4) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
5) Reboot your computer
6) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Upload HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.07beta.exe
8) Test if it works
9) Overwrite the backuped "holdemmanager.config" file in the new Config directory to recover your settings
10) Test if it works
11) Import your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
12) Test if it works

I did all three of those steps and I'm still getting the same errors. What should I do now?
