Hey guys,
I was wondering how many threads notecaddy supports at max for a really large database?

Thanks! :)

Depends on your computer. The biggest number in the config screen is the biggest number it supports

I'm about to build a new computer for this purpose and I'd like to go beyond 12 Cores.
I dont think anyone ever tried such big workstations, which is why I wanted to ask for any built-in limits before spending my money on hardware that notecaddy doesnt support :(

You should be careful with a setup like this. Sure, note-creation speed will benefit from all the extra cores, but typically these CPUs have relatively low clock speeds. When playing you need a CPU with a good single threaded punch. Your workstation CPU with low clock speeds will not do well in this scenario.

The Intel 5930k or 4790k are imo the best choices atm. Not sure how much the 5960x can be overclocked. In case you can run it with > 3.5GHz on all cores it would be also a nice choice.

i was looking at the Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, that one has 3,5Ghz in Turbo Mode- which should be sufficient, right?

For comparation:

Intel Xeon E5 2697 v2 vs Core i7 4790K (http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-E5-2697-v2-vs-Intel-Core-i7-4790K)

Intel Xeon E5 2697 v2 vs Core i7 5960X (http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-E5-2697-v2-vs-Intel-Core-i7-5960X)

I would not go for it. For the price of the Xeon you can pretty much make a complete build with the 5960x (saw reports, that it can be overclocked quite good to 4.0 GHz, air-cooling). Really keep in mind that almost everything but NoteCaddy doesn't benefit from the extra cores.

With the Xeon you might end up with much higher costs and a worser in game performance (as the single core performance of the Xeon is significant weaker).

Yeah stay away from xeon for this application. You definitely wouldn't have a good time
