It says there is no config file, then the dialog that usually has the serial number in appears along with an "authorise" dialog, which I assume is for UAC type stuff.

I want to uninstall and re install, as I want to do some filtering in a large DB, which I dont particularly like doing in HEM2.

Im not sure what the process was to get it into the state it is in now, as I remember trying to get it running a while ago, but for some reason couldnt.

What is the best way to remove it from the system to try to start over?

Thanks

I suggest you just reinstall the latest update into the original program folder

Try using revo uninstaller. If that doesn't help I am afraid there likely isn't anything else we can do as we no longer update or provide technical support for HM1.

Yeah, revo just hangs up. Left it for 30 mins and it didn't do anything so I closed it off.

Are there any shared files between HM1/HM2? Was planning to delete everything from the rvg folder and on the registry. Obvioulsy I want HM2 to work, as I use that to play.

HM2 does not access any of the files in the RVG Software folder and it should not need any of the HM1/RVG registry entries since you don't need HM1 installed to run HM2.

"Cannot access config file. Make sure you are running hm from the correct directory"

Also, no matter how many times I change the required HM files in the directory it always asks for permission from admin.

Really not sure what to do here. Can't uninstall it. Tried deleting the directory and re installing, but nothing happens.

I understand you have discontinued support on the product, but any help would be great if you can find the time.

Why are you trying to uninstall it exactly? That is not clear in your OP. Have you tried just installing it with the full setup file again over the current installation?

Make sure the rvg software is not set to read only - Please see this FAQ to alleviate any security bottlenecks - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/2561/Set+Correct+Permissions+on+files+and+folders+HM2+u se

Please see instructions here to Disable UAC if you don't want windows asking for permission - Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Win 7, 8, or Vista (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/)

Well, it is already partially uninstalled. It does not appear on the "uninstall a program" in control panel, but all the files are there in the directory. When I do try to re install, using this one http://forums.holdemmanager.com/releases/119461-1-12-10b-official-release.html it still doesnt appear in the control panel.

When i open it maually in the directory, it has the "could not find config dile" then asks for auth, then says the serial is still encrypted.

Thank you for the info wrt the Read Only change. I changed that off R/O and it is behaving the same way.

Just delete the C:/Program Files(x86)/RVG Software/HoldemManager folder.

Then reinstall it to a non system folder, like C:/Poker/HoldemManager.

That is an update patch, not a full installer file, so it isn't going to add the necessary registry entries to make it show up in the control panel programs list to be uninstalled. Download the latest HM1 full setup file from our downloads page. Here is a direct link - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe
