When I used PT2 there was an easy way to do this on the software but I can't find out how to do it on HEM. I've looked at the FAQ on this site and didn't find anything. Assuming there is a way to do this, can somebody walk me through it? I'm not very tech savvy, fwiw.

What did you search under in the FAQ, i used the keywords vacuum so anything with that should have picked it up. Anyway heres the details: http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmmain.aspx

I didn't notice the search feature, I only looked at the topics listed in the main FAQ page.

Anyways now I searched for vacuum and it takes me to the question "is there anything I can do to improve the performance of my HUD?," and it says to go to Options > Vacuum Analyze Database.

That would be perfect except there is no such button that I see under the options tab in HM. Am I missing something?

You need to update to the newest version here http://www.rvgsoftware.com/hm/hmupdatex.exe

I've tried to use "Vacuum Analyze Database" now a couple of times but I'm getting always the same error message.
I choose "Yes" and then it says:
"There was an error during the Vacuum. Please manually vacuum your database through pgadmin."

Doing it manually with pgadmin worked...

I'm using HM 1.06.01i and Windows Vista x64.

Morny,

Presumably vacuuming is similar to PT's "Compact a HH/DB"...is that right?

If so, how often should we run a vacuum (or is there a prompt when the time comes)?

Thanks.

Not sure about PTs compacting as i didnt use it but basically Vacumming tidies up the database and makes it run queries faster, im sure once every 2 -4 weeks should be more than enough.
