I just purchased HM manager and during launch gives me the following error:
"An error occured while loading the prefs files: Input string was not in correct format".

Please advice on how to resolve it so I can launch it. Thanks.

Can your go in the Config directory. Close HM. Move the prefs.xml file from the Config directory outside the RVG Software folder. Restart HM.

I did as suggested and only left the HoldemManager.config file in the directory and moved out all the rest. Still getting exactly the same error.

I only said to move the "prefs.xml"...

Can you try an HM reinstallation.

1) Make a backup of "Config" in a safe location
2) Export your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
3) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
4) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
5) Reboot your computer
6) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Upload HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.07beta.exe
8) Test if it works
9) Overwrite the backuped "holdemmanager.config" file in the new Config directory to recover your settings
10) Test if it works
11) Import your HUDs via "HUD Options => Player Preferences"
12) Test if it works

Followed the above steps in mentioned sequence (did not need to back anything since first time using it). It still give me the exact same error. Also, its a brand new XP computer that I am using.

I had given up some time ago of getting holdem manager working on my computer due to this problem. We tried doing meeting place, but still could not solve it (config directory never loaded the files). I tried it again, hoping it would work but ofcourse same result. Wanted to see if you had solved similar issues with someone else, or if there was something from my register that i needed to clear first.
