Hello;

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1

Upon HM install I received the Prostgres cannot connect... error.

I just went through this last week with Win7 but I can't remember how I solved it.

This time I "fixed" it differently though, that I know. I installed Postgres 9.3 and got HM up and running however cue the big error:

I receive a pop-up from HE which for whatever reason the text is blank (or same colour as the background) I cannot read it. Same issue inside HM

-1 Set the Windows DPI settings to 100% DPI Display Size Settings - Change - Windows 7 Help Forums (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/443-dpi-display-size-settings-change.html)

-2 Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.14.01_11Apr2014.exe

-3 Turn on the secondary Logon. The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.

Don't install PostgreSQL 9.3. Instead install 9.2 (or 9.0) to a different port (for example 5433).
If it won't install, install 8.2: http://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/binary/v8.2.22/win32/postgresql-8.2.22-1.zip

Thanks, looks like it was a windows DPI thing. Postgres was solved by use of 9.3
