Please help, Can't install the server or connect to database.

Been trying to do this for a few days now, and nothing I try works. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. With a google chrome browser... I disabled the UAC, I ran hold'em manager as Admin, I put in the passwords postgrespass, and dbpass, I opened the program file changed everything to "trust".. Made my own database, couldn't import hands.... I have no idea what else to do!! I just can't install or run the server no matter what I do.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.


If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely

If 8.4 won't run, try installing 8.2.20 from PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org)
