I am currently using the backup and restore option and when I load the .hembk file it crashes and windows gives me a message saying 'HoldEmManager Backup Has Stopped Working.' I am currently using Windows 7 64bit on a fresh install. It happens every time with this file. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brian

Which postgresql version did you install?
The HM backup/restore doesn't support postgresql 9

You should use the pgadmin backup function instead. http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/72/Backup+%26+Restore+Database

i have postgresql 8.4 installed, which was installed with the hem software. i tried using a backup from a earlier date and it worked , will using pgadmin be able to restore the database filetype .hembk? i would like to get the most up to date database working as opposed to using the older one.

pgadmin cant use the .hembk files directly but this file is just a renamed .zip file.
You can open it with a zip tool and restore the main backup file from the dbs folder in the file.
This file can be restored by pgadmin.

Thanks for the help so far. I used the link you supplied and when I click to restore database, it is asking for a .backup file. I unzipped the .hembk and i am left with 2 .sql files. It is not accepting either files.

Is there a way to use the .sql files from the .hembk to restore a database?

Sorry, i thought the file is a dump file. Instead it is a sql script file. You need to create a new empty database in pgadmin and the open and run the sql script in the pgadmin query tool connected to your new database.

We are now far beyond our normal support knowledge.
I don't know what else to do.

Do you have access to your old database or the hands?
