error a service postgres 8.4 already exists

hi , i uninstalled my holdem manager and postgres now im have having problems trying to re-install , this message pops up i cannot find postgres anywere its already been removed so this has confused me

You probably will see the postgresql service listed in the windows services (Control Panel -> Administration -> Services). I'm not sure if its possible to delete it there.

I suggest you download Postgresql 8.4 from www.postgreql.org and try to install it.

hi , thanks for the reply the link does not work so i tried downloading 8.4 from enterprisedb.com but the error message comes up again when i try to run the download , also i found the the postgresql service listed in the windows services (Control Panel -> Administration -> Services). like you said

Is the postgresql 8.4 service running or is it just installed? You can use regedit to search for postgresql entries in the registry and delete them manually.

hello ive tried all of the above but it still says the same thing and wont run postqresql after ive downloaded ,ive tried loading the holdem manager page and it trys to load but it says failed connection 127.0.0.1 so i go to the postgessql and try to connect but says a connection could not be made ...(

run cmd.exe with administrator privileges

type in the prompt:

sc delete postgresql-8.4

this worked for me
