Hi,

I've recently bought and installed Holdem Manager. Now when I start it up I see a popup of Database control panel, I noticed I had to download & install ProgreSQL 8.3, so I did that.

But now I still have no clue what to enter @ servername / port number / username / password..

When I do the default things (that are already filled in) it says: A connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would you like to have Holdem Manager attempt to start the service?

Then when I click Yes it says this : Sorry, Holdem Manager was unable to start the service.

I've searched thru the entire FAQ but couldnt find anything about it, so this is my last chance.. If any1 could help me :)

Look at this FAQ: http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34

name: 127.0.0.1
port: 5432

user and pass is what you have set when installing postgreSQL.

I'm downloading it at this site :

http://www.enterprisedb.com/products/pgdownload.do#windows

Then first I get a popup of my windows anti spyware scanner saying there is a bat file or something and then it says this at the installation:

Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. The database cluster initalisation failed.

I think this may cause the problem but I'm not sure :-/

Can you uninstall everything, HM and postgreSQL and remove associated directorys in Program Files.

After that, install postgreSQL and put the first error you encounter.

Yo wat up :)
Just a quicky, the above port and number and other number,is that connecting to the internet each time we start the programs(HEM/PSQL)

I know that HEM connects to the internet each time it's started to verify the code.
What I don't understand is why the database tries to connect to the 127.0.0.1:5432(each time it's started)

All I want to know is where this is connecting too???(sorry bit of a computer noob)

Seasons greatings

127.0.0.1 is your local network however unrelated to that HM does access the net to verify your regitration

Im getting the message 'The username and/or password was incorrest. Would you like to have holdem manager configure the database to accept this login and password?' I have tried clicking yes but then I get the same message over and over as much as I try, I have just uninstalled/re-installed holdem manager and no success there either. Any suggestions?

This is the first time using it too and this is as far as I have got!

The user/pass required is from postgreSQL, not from HM. (Backup your SQL database if you have one). Uninstall postgreSQL, reinstall it and choose a new user, like "holdemmanager" for example.

Try uninstalling that version and reinstalling an older version of PostgreSQL i.e 8.3.2 or 8.3.3 or 8.3.4 from http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=72

They dont force you to use the postgre username so you should just choose a different username other than postgre when installing it so use holdemmanager instead and this time write down the password you use
