Hello

Recently I have been having huge problems with both HMs, first I used HM1 when the HUD stopped working for FullTilt I moved to HM2 , however after few days HM2 started to crush my PS client + other issues , so I moved back to HM1 as the fix was released for the HUD at FullTilt
(version:1.12.10b ) but I was still getting some crashes with PS client , so as I viewed the logs , it appear that blitz.dll ( HM file ) seems to crash PS client. So I was again looking for solution and found some other update ( version: 1.13.02_05Aug2014 ) and seems like the crash issue is fixed , but again no HUD for FT. Any clues what the fk is going on?? Im really losing the patience here , it tilts me quite hard , as nothing seems to be working as it used to. Is there any update where everything works which I dont know about?

PS: Using Windows 7 & Avast as antivirus.
Should have all windows updates , as its set on auto.

( tryed reinstalling everything , all poker clients , avast , HM , no change )

also 1 last question what does mean " update database " at start of HM? what it does etc.

Thanks for any help.

You need to use the latest HM1 Beta from 10th of October: http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.13.02_10Oct2013.exe

The database update changes some definitions and fields in the database which are necessary for the latest releases to work properly. You should make a database backup before installing it.

Hey

Thanks for reply , Im gonna try that one then.... 1 thing I wonder is why that update isnt on support -> downloads , section?? Also is that update for already installed HM or is that for fresh install? I ask because you told me to do backup database so Im not sure. Or did you mean to backup database before clicking on "update database" at start up of the HM? Hopefully you will understand , cause my english isnt perfect so I have to ask twice sometimes.. :)

BTW version: 1.13.02_05Aug2014 is has the blitz.dll crash too + no HUD for FT.

Thanks again and have a nice day!

http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.13.02_10Oct2013.exe is our latest 'beta build'.
In the support--> downloads section, is the older 'official build'.

the 1.13.02_10Oct file is an update file to update ANY older version of HM1 to 1.13.02. It will not work for a fresh install. (if you do want to do a fresh install you first need the full installer @ http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe , then update to 1.13.02 )

Backup your database, before you click on the 'update database' button. If you have a proper backup of all your original handhistory files, you don't have to create a backup. As you can always reimport your hands into a new empty database.

It is not an 'official' release but it should be stable as there haven't been many changes since our last official release 18+ months ago. HM2 is our priority so we haven't devoted the time necessary for an official HM1 release in quite some time. We have only been addressing critical issues that come up on a case by case basis. I expect we will make this 10Oct build an official release at some point, or possibly try to fix a few more lingering HM1 issues at some point, and then announce the HM1 End Of Life but a final decision about that has not yet been made by management so it is purely speculation on my part.

Yes, it is stable. There are thousands of customers using it without any known issues in this build.

Hey

New version , same issue. Any clues? Again something with blitz.dll unloaded or whatever. Also been getting some errors with postgre something about year month day format maybe? ( not sure ) What is strange is frequency of this blitz.dll crash which isnt everyday its like every second day but not always , sometimes it crashes 5 days in a row , but only once a day , but sometimes it doesnt and its always at start of HM.

set the date formatting of your computer to M/d/yyyy (and not to European default d/M/yyyy) with regional settings English (United States)

Which PostgreSQL version are you using?

Don't assume you have all Windows 7 updates, because it's set to auto-update. Still run a manual Windows Update and install all updates, including all .net framework updates. Reboot. Then look for new updates again. (repeat this process, until they're all installed)

Auto-update will only install 'critical' updates, whereas vc++ and .netframework updates (that are actually important for HoldemManager) and 'optional' updates, and won't be installed automatically if Windows update is set to 'install updates automatically'.

Ok will try to change the date.

postgreSQL version is 8.4

How I do manual update of netframeworks? version of netframeworks should be 4.5.1
and MV C++ is dunno I see more versions. In installed programs I see like 6 times MV C++ , how many of these should I have?

Run a Windows Update: http://www.ghacks.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/windows-update-550x405.jpg

and install ALL optional updates.

Ye I always do , so means I got all updated to latest version.

Btw the crash only happens once in day , as soon as I start HM1 with PS running. Then I have to close PS + HM and start again and then it works , but the crash at begin of each session is getting rly annoying.

There are a lot of problems with Avast blocking updates. We do not recommend it, as it causes a lot of issues because of this. Many of those free Norton, Mcaffee, Comodo, Zonealarm, Avira, Avast, AVG, etc, 'internet security' bundles will not work well with holdem manager.

Please do the following steps, so we can get your computer to a state that we know will work with Holdem Manager:

1) Uninstall any 3rd party security software bundles.
2) Reboot your computer
3) Please install the latest version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_2_Beta.exe
4) Enable Windows Firewall's recommended settings through your Control Panel, turn off Windows Defender, and add firewall exceptions for HM and SQL - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/1011/Software+Security+Problems+%28Firewall%29
5) Install Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus/malware protection and update it - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/)

If you continue to have problems, please reproduce the problem and attach your log.txt file.

Please 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org) the file before attaching it, as sometimes text files can become corrupted as attachments.

XP:
c:\documents and settings\username\application data\HoldemManager

7/vista
c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\HoldemManager

Enable the option to see Hidden Files and Disable "Hide protected operating system files": http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/832/How+are+Hidden+Files+Viewed+in+Windows%3F+ - It should look like this: http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/images/hidden.jpg

You'll need to add:
- holdemmanager.exe
- hmimport.exe, hmhud.exe
- postgres and pg_ctl, your poker client .exe
- table ninja.exe
- tablescannerdllloader.exe

to the exceptions list in your firewall and antivirus. ****

4) Make sure that windows is fully updated. Keep checking for updates until it says twice five minutes apart that there are no more updates available.

5) You need to make sure that these folders:

c:\programfiles\rvgsoftware\holdemmanager, c:\hmarchive, c:\postgresql (or c:\programfiles\postgresql) and your site's hand history folder are each not read only** and that all permissions are set to full for your user name. ***

** You will need to right click the folder, open properties. At the bottom in Attributes, uncheck the Read-Only. The folder will continue showing read only after that, this is an issue in Windows

*** This is in Properties as well, in Security.

****Please see this guide for Windows Firewall:

http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/1052/Windows+Firewall+%7B47%7D+Defender+Problems

Please see this FAQ for setting permissions and unchecking read only:

http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/2561/Set+Correct+Permissions+on+files+and+folders+HM2+u se

Make sure you are running the necessary files as administrator and have added the files to your antivirus and firewall exceptions lists.

Please see this FAQ:

http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/641/How+to+setup+Holdem+Manager+to+run+with+Pokerstars +Zoom+tables

Please duplicate the issue.

Open Control Panel - System - Administrative Tools - Windows Event Viewer's - Windows Logs - Applications.

Check for any errors and send the information by saving the error. They should be right at the top. We need errors, not information.
