Recently my holdem manager has only been importing around half the hands I play. Everytime this happens I set up a new database, but this only works for a couple of days before the problem resurfaces again. How can I fix this so it stops happening and can guarantee every hands imports with no problems?

Which site/games are you playing?

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.13.02_10Oct2013.exe

If you continue to have problems, try the following -

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) Use our combo installer to reinstall PostgreSQL. Make sure you un-check Holdem Manager during installation. http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe

If that installer fails to install PostgreSQL, please reinstall PostgreSQL using the following instructions:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) run the command - start > programs > accessories > command prompt > right-click > run as administrator

net user postgres /delete

4) reboot.
5) Install PostgreSQL 8.3.9 from this link - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Postgres_8.3.9-v1.0.7.exe

I'm playing on pokerstars on the microstakes NLHE cash games. I tried updating to the latest version but my laptop wouldn't accept the update. I think the link you sent me may be corrupted. Nevertheless I tried uninstalling/reinstalling PostgreSQL but I'm still having the same problems. Most of the hands have not imported into holdem manager.

There is nothing wrong with that link. If you got errors when trying to install it means that your Holdem Manager did not fully shut down before you tried updating it and some of the processes were still running.

Please reboot your computer and try installing the update again then try importing the hands.

Please zip and email the problem hand histories, with a link to this thread and your forum name, to support@holdemmanager.com

All original hands that are auto-imported get moved to an archive for performance reasons. Your \HMArchive is likely not in your \Holdem Manager directory. We normally suggest you use C:\HMArchive, but you may have put it anywhere. The archive should be organized by \Month\DayOfMonth (example: D:\HMArchive\2009\07\31).

Hi. I'm having the same problem as the OP. I'm missing an unknown amount of hands for some reason. I tried following the steps outlined in this thread (both of them), but now HM won't even open and it seems like HM can't find any databases at all ("Unable to read data from the transport connection"). In the installation process, I first got "psqlInit has stopped working" and then it immediately said "successfully installed", but didn't work. Any suggestions?

I play on Pokerstars and I'm using HM 1.13.02. Thanks.

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.14.01_14Feb2014.exe

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Please try all the following steps - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can%27t+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQ L+

I have Windows 7 Ultimate, my Windows Firewall is off. I also have Kaspersky 2011, but postgresql seems to be allowed. I briefly looked at the steps in the faq - do I really need to uninstall Kaspersky for example?

You may have to try uninstalling it if the other steps don't help. Once you get it working you should be able to reinstall kaspersky and set the exclusions again. If you have to reinstall postgresql it is definitely a good idea to uninstall kaspersky to make sure it doesn't block any files from being installed.

Ok, just tried uninstalling Kaspersky, updated HM to last version, did steps 1-5 and I'm still having the same problem (!!). Any other suggestions?

You might be able to reinstall using the same \data folder.

For reinstalling SQL to the same DB, follow these steps:

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) If you are moving the DB to a different drive/partition, manually cut or copy the \Postgresql\8.x\data directory to it's new location.
3) run the command - start > programs > accessories > command prompt > right-click > run as administrator

net user postgres /delete
4) reboot.
5) Install the same version of PostgreSQL as your current DB using these instructions - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/71/Reinstall+PostgreSQL+Preserving+Old+Database
http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/postgresql-8.4.17-1-windows.exe
6) If you have moved/installed your DB to a non-default location, please make sure to change the 'Data Directory' path during the installation.

If you continue to have problems you will have to try a fresh reinstall of psql as suggested at the end of that faq - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can%27t+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQ L+#still

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.

Thanks for all your help, but it's still not working :( I have really tried everything now, including reinstalling into D: after moving the datafolder there.

Whatever I do, when I open HM, it just says it fails to connect to 127.0.0.1. I honestly have a feeling it's something very simple that has gone wrong, but I'm no computer expert. Maybe the postgres folder is in the wrong place? It's currently in c/programfiles(x86)/postgreSQL/ where I now have 4 different folders: 8.3, 8.3 prev, 8.4, 8.4 prev. The 8.4 folders are both over 7GB which implies that they contain all the hands.

Is there some simple way to re-install everything and re-import all the hands into a new database? What can I do? Getting desperate...

Now I have even tried to uninstall everything that has to do with HM or PSQL and still I can't re-install it. I don't even care about my database anymore - I just want to get HM working from scratch and import hands...

* - Make sure windows is fully updated until 'No New Important Updates are Found' (this may require multiple restarts and multiple 'check for updates'), including Internet Explorer 9 (even if you use a different web browser) and change your Windows Control Panel > Regional Settings Format to English (USA).
2 - Make sure Holdem Manager is updated to the latest version Downloads and Manuals - Hold'Em Manager, Omaha Manager & HM Apps (http://www.holdemmanager.com/store/downloads-manuals.php)
3 - Please make sure you have access to a good connection, we cannot provide support on really slow connections
