I need some help to get my HUD to work again. Uppgraded to Windows 8.1 just a few days ago, since then my hud wont show live stats, it only says "Waiting for Hands".

Everything else works, even HUD in HM2 replayer. Stats are imporing in real time, note caddy works, active session show everything etc.

Any ideas?

Any time you are having HUD or import problems you should tell us what sites/games you are playing and which version number of HM2 you are using in case you haven't updated recently. Since stars is the most popular site I will assume you are playing there in my reply.

Which Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

The Win 8.1 update is known to change permissions on some drives/folders so make sure all the steps below are still configured properly as they were before the win 8.1 update:

1) Please make sure you are installing on an administrator account and running as an administrator.

2) Please turn off UAC.

3) You'll need to add:
- hmupdate.exe (only exists during update)
- holdemmanager.exe
- hudfuncapps.exe
- postgres and pg_ctl, your poker client .exe
- table ninja.exe
- notecaddy.business.dll and notecaddy.contents.dll from the modules folder in holdemmanager's program files folder (you might have to type in the names in some firewalls, they do not show)

to the exceptions list in your firewall and antivirus. ****

4) Make sure that windows is fully updated. Keep checking for updates until it says twice five minutes apart that there are no more updates available.

5) You need to make sure that this folder*,

8/7/Vista: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\Application Data\HoldemManager

as well as c:\programfiles\holdemmanager2, c:\hm2archive, c:\hmarchive and your site's hand history folder are each not read only** and that all permissions are set to full for your user name. ***

* You will need to show hidden files. See this tutorial for showing system and hidden files:

http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/832/How+are+Hidden+Files+Viewed+in+Windows%3F+

See the location here for win 7:

See the location here for win xp:

http://www.udbrky.com/hmsupport/configfile.PNG

** You will need to right click the folder, open properties. At the bottom in Attributes, uncheck the Read-Only. The folder will continue showing read only after that, this is an issue in Windows

*** This is in Properties as well, in Security.

****Please see this guide for Windows Firewall:

Please see this FAQ for setting permissions and unchecking read only:

Once all the exclusions and permissions are confirmed to be set properly:

*Note that we do not support play money hands so you must test/play real money hands when using HM2 - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/2901/Play+Money+Hands

Make sure that poker stars is saving hands and HM2 is auto importing them - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/642/Poker+Stars+Setup

Make sure the poker client and hand histories are both in English. If it is not, you need to change it in the Lobby Options or reinstall the software and choose English.

Make sure that the Site Time Adjustment is properly configured such that the Time Stamp in the Reports for the hand matches your local windows clock time - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/101/Options+%7B47%7D+Hand+Importing+%7B47%7D+Site+Time +Adjustment
