Hi, I still cant get HEM and postgre to install and run. Went round and round a few times already. I've tried combo installer, cant install postgre. I've deleted my anti virus. Now theres AVG, should I uninstall too? I've tried downloading postgre 9 separately. Still cant get it up and running. Need some help, thanks.

AVG causes a lot of issues. We do not recommend using it ever. Many of those free Norton, Mcaffee, Comodo, Zonealarm, Avira, Avast, AVG, etc, 'internet security' bundles will not work well with holdem manager.

Please do the following steps, so we can get your computer to a state that we know will work with Holdem Manager:

1) Uninstall any 3rd party security software bundles.
2) Reboot your computer
3) Please update to this version:

http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.13.02_10Oct2013.exe
4) Enable Windows Firewall's recommended settings through your Control Panel, turn off Windows Defender, and add firewall exceptions for HM and SQL - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/1011/Software+Security+Problems+%28Firewall%29
5) Install Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus/malware protection and update it - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/)

If you continue to have problems, please reproduce the problem and attach your log.txt file.

Please 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org) the file before attaching it, as sometimes text files can become corrupted as attachments.

XP:
c:\documents and settings\username\application data\HoldemManager

7/vista
c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\HoldemManager

Enable the option to see Hidden Files and Disable "Hide protected operating system files": http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/832/How+are+Hidden+Files+Viewed+in+Windows%3F+ - It should look like this: http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/images/hidden.jpg

- Please see these steps to fix postgresql connection issues:

http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can't+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQL+

- Please make sure that you have allowed postgres and pg_ctl in your firewall and antivirus exceptions. They are in postgres\bin. Allow port 5432 in your firewall exceptions as well.

- Please update windows fully. Please keep checking until it shows twice five minutes apart that there are no more updates.

- Please update your network adapter. Open device manager and find the model #. Search google for the model # drivers to download.

- Please run the windows repair on your winsock:

How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259)

If you are using Mcafee, Norton, Comodo or AVG for security, they have been causing a lot of issues with postgres lately. We recommend using a different program, such as Microsoft's firewall and Microsoft Security Essential. If you do feel that you need Comodo or AVG, uninstall first, install postgres, then reinstall after it is working.

See this guide for Windows Firewall:

http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/1052/Windows+Firewall+%7B47%7D+Defender+Problems

Download the same version you are running from Download PostgreSQL | EnterpriseDB (http://www.enterprisedb.com/products-services-training/pgdownload#windows) - do not use 9.1 or 9.3.

Right click the setup file, click properties. Click the unblock button at the bottom.

Empty the c:\temp and/or c:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp folders.

If there is still an issue, we need to know the error - it is in the temp folder - bitrockinstaller.txt file.

This means that either a firewall is blocking the communication between Postgresql and HM or the Postgresql service is not running. Please see our FAQ: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can%27t+Connect+%7B47%7D+Failed+to+Start+PostgreSQ L+
and for Windows 8: http://forums.holdemmanager.com/general-support/346061-windows-8-upgrade-guide.html

Hi, I've tried everything on the list. I cant seem to find a way to include port 5432 on windows 8. I still get the same cannot connect to 127.0.0.1 server issue. Does HM2 have the same problems?

I tried turning off windows firewall completely and uninstalled all anti viruses as well, same outcome.

Hi,

I have more like Windows 8.1 problem
After installing Windows 8.1, holdem manager reports:

"In order to use Holdem Manager ad Administrator must grant permission to run the software the at least one.
To grant permission to the application, select the Authorize button and ask an Administrator to enter their login information"

But then independently on whether one clicks Authorize or Cancel it goes:
"A valid licence could not be obtained. Please contact Hold'em manager for assistance"

I click OK: "There are problems with your licence"..

Well that I know, I deleted the licence as that's what FAQ suggested:
http://faq.holdemmanager.com/129472questions/24/I+Can%27t+Activate+%26+Register+Holdem+Manager

I have followed instructions on similar problems in HM2 forum. My Windows user account is an administrator.
I use avast, but have added holdem manager as exception, likewise in firewall. I have disabled UAC, and can see hidden files. I open holdemmanager.exe as admin, and the folder has every kind of possible action allowed (except for "special authorization", which can't be clicked on)
I have deleted my licence as requested. But the software does not ask for a licence, it just gives the error.
I have now deleted the licence, but the software does not ask for entering any code..

Thanks in advance for any help,

Have you tried using a different port number like 5433?

Opening a port is the same basic procedure as win 7. Our FAQ is due for an update since it was written using Vista.

1. Shutdown Hold'em Manager and Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate_Release_1.13.02_10Oct2013.exe
2. Navigate to your RVG Software/Holdem Manager/Config folder
3. Create a new text document in the Config folder and name it LicDebug
4. Restart Hold'em Manager

You should hopefully be able to enter your code now. Once you have done this close Hold'em Manager, delete the LicDebug file and restart Hold'em Manager.

If you continue to have registration issues, please send your Reg.log file from the C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Logs folder. If your Windows is hiding known file extensions the file will simply be called 'reg'.

130062Thank you for your reply,

I have done that, but now Holdem manager does not recognize my code, which has previously worked for a long time.
I think holdem manager did not like that I deleted LicDeBug according to what is written there ;-)

Can you email your serial key to sales@holdemmanager.com and have them verify you're activating HM1 with the correct serial key.

They wrote it was good, so I tried again - now it works for some reason.
Now I registered and get:

Deploy Licensing Developer Mode is enabled. Be sure to disable this feature before realeasing your assembly.

edit: deploy licencing only remaining problem

Thank you

Delete the licdebug file we told you to create/copy in to the program to get it working Shown in bold in the quote below.

1. Shutdown Hold'em Manager
2. Navigate to your RVG Software/Holdem Manager/Config folder
3. Create a new text document in the Config folder and name it LicDebug
4. Restart Hold'em Manager
