I woke up this morning, loaded up some tables, auto import was still running from last night, I noticed that the hud wasnt coming up. So I stopped/started auto import, relaunched HUD, nothing. I restarted HEM and got this message:

I also got it after restarting my computer too. I have searched the forum and found that reinstalling postgre or whatever its called fixes this, but I NEED to keep my database, how can I fix this error without losing my database? It is the latest stable release (I think its 1.06.03h), is it worth trying the latest beta version as a fix? I'm also using Windows XP.

Thank you very much.

Also i'm not sure if this thread is in the right place, do say if its not and ill delete and post in the correct forum

EDIT: after searching some more and reading some FAQs I found that restarting PostgreSQL service might work, I found it under services and it isn't running:

when i try to start it i get this:

Hi,

Are you sure that all your firewall, anti-viruses, spywares... are correctly configured.

This can be the problem.

Yes im very sure, since im not using any and i have been using HEM for while before this error. Do you know if postgresql saves its database to file, if so where so i can copy paste it, then reinstall postgre and paste it back in. I cannot connect to the database even though pgadmin or the command line to export it.

pgadminIII

This is dangerous to not have protections.

Are you sure that even the default Windows firewall is configured?

About the backup of your Database, there is 3 solutions:

1) http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=12
2) http://208.109.95.123/forum/showpost.php?p=7254&postcount=2
3) Just reimport all your hands from your saved HHs.

As i said in my last reply i cannot connect through pgadmin or the command line, so i cannot export through those methods. Is there no other way? I have about 600,000 hands in the database and they're not all archived, i'm pretty desperate to save this database.

Hi,

Are you sure that all your firewall, anti-viruses, spywares... are correctly configured.

This can be the problem.

how do i know they are correctly configured and if they aren't interfering with my HM manager?

You need to add them to exceptions list but the only way to be 100% sure its not them is to uninstall them 1 by one and restart after uninstalling them and then try again

I had a similar problem as this. I am running Windows Vista. Windows sent me this update which I installed.
After installing I couldn't start Holdem Mgr. and was getting some similar error messages. So I uninstalled the update and HM is working fine now. I am wondering if people having problems have their auto updates enabled and aren't aware of this update? This is just a guess but I thought it might help. I saw another post where the same thing may be happening. Like I said this is just a guess but I thought it might help.
