View Full Version : "Sorry, could not install PostgreSQL" - W8 instalation issues

Hello,

I am having lot of troubles installing HM1. I am using Windows 8 on my PC.

I downloaded the file Holdem_Manager_Setup_1.12.10b, turned off Windows Firewall (I do not use third party "antivirus"), then I restarted my pc and executed the HM installer as administrator (right click and then "run as administrator"). The installer stopped with the message "Holdem Manager Setp. Sorry, could not install PostgreSQL" y click ok.

Checking the installation status I can see:

The installer says: "Installation aborted. Setup was not completed successfully."
Only "Cancel" option is highlighted.

Checking programs in Control Panel I can see that Holdem Manager was installed (does not state the space used). PostgreSQL 8.4 was also in the installed programs with space of 108GB!!!!!.

It seems that Microsoft Visual C++ was also installed.

Runing HM as administrator, the HM program says that found poker sites software, ok, then says:

The following error ocurred when trying to open the database: Failed to stablish a conecction to '127.0.0.1'.
Ok. It then goes to Database Control Panel, with all the proper info, if I click "Connect" it says:

DB Control Panel.
A connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would you like to have Holdem Manager attempt to start the service?
Yes. Instantly prompts

DB Control Panel.
Sorry, Holdem Manager was unable to start the service
OK.
Instantly again I get:

DB Control Panel.
Holdem Manager has started the service. Please try again
OK. Then it goes again to Database Control Panel.

Any advices?

1. Check if the secondary logon is running: Turn on the secondary Logon. The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.


2. Install PostgreSQL 8.2 to port 5433.

When installing PostgreSQL 8.2 I get the warning "Malformed permission property: 'langid'.". Then the installation reverts.
