View Full Version : Notes popup didn't refresh anymore

Hello, Im a HU player and usually I let the notes popup open for seeing the notes I have taken and the NoteCaddy notes.

I don't know what could be the problem now, but to refresh the NoteCaddy notes in the note popup I must close the popup and open it again. Seems like a new bug. Any solution?

We couldn't reproduce.

What security software are you running?

Many of those free Norton, Mcaffee, Comodo, Zonealarm, Avira, Avast, AVG, etc, 'internet security' bundles will not work well with holdem manager.

Please do the following steps, so we can get your computer to a state that we know will work with Holdem Manager:

1) Uninstall any 3rd party security software bundles.
2) Reboot your computer
3) Please install the latest version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_2_Beta.exe
4) Enable Windows Firewall's recommended settings through your Control Panel, turn off Windows Defender, and add firewall exceptions for HM and SQL - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/1011/Software+Security+Problems+%28Firewall%29
5) Install Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus/malware protection and update it - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/)

If you continue to have problems, please reproduce the problem and attach your log.txt file.

Please 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org) the file before attaching it, as sometimes text files can become corrupted as attachments.

1) Please make sure you are installing on an administrator account and running as an administrator.

2) Please turn off UAC.

3) You'll need to add:
- hmupdate.exe (only exists during update)
- holdemmanager.exe
- hudfuncapps2.exe
- postgres and pg_ctl, your poker client .exe
- table ninja.exe
- tablescannerdllloader.exe
- notecaddy.business.dll and notecaddy.contents.dll from the modules folder in holdemmanager's program files folder (you might have to type in the names in some firewalls, they do not show)

to the exceptions list in your firewall and antivirus. ****

4) Make sure that windows is fully updated. Keep checking for updates until it says twice five minutes apart that there are no more updates available.

5) You need to make sure that this folder*,

8/7/Vista: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\Application Data\HoldemManager

as well as c:\postgresql (or c:\programfiles\postgresql), c:\programfiles\holdemmanager2, c:\hm2archive, c:\hmarchive and your site's hand history folder are each not read only** and that all permissions are set to full for your user name. ***

* You will need to show hidden files. See this tutorial for showing system and hidden files:

** You will need to right click the folder, open properties. At the bottom in Attributes, uncheck the Read-Only. The folder will continue showing read only after that, this is an issue in Windows

1) Please close HM

2) Please open PGAdminIII

It is in the Start -> Postgres folder.

3) Enter your postgres password. The default password is typically postgrespass.

4) Open the databases.

5) Highlight your database.

6) Right click, click maintenance.

7) Run the vacuum and analyze and reindex functions.

I did everything you mention above, and still having the same problem.

To be more graphic:

When I start playing, I allways open the notes popup and it looks like this

If I didn't close the popup, it will keep like that without showing none NC notes

The only way to see the NC notes that HM have taken, is to closing the popup and open it again (and I must do the same any time I want to refresh the NC notes)

Moving to the NoteCaddy forum to get SretiCentv's input to see if he thinks this is a NC problem or a HM2 problem and what we need to do to track it down.

Not sure how this could possibly be a NC issue if:
-closing and reopening refreshes, as android specified
-cyborg notes do refresh

HM2 was designed to poll NC every x seconds for new data when that window is open. It seems to no longer be doing so.

Thank you for the feedback. I am going to send this back to our testers to see if anyone can duplicate it and get it documented. I tried for an hour this morning and couldn't dupe this but I ran into other issues that prevented me from testing it thoroughly.

Do you know which version of HM2 and NC you are using?

Please update to the latest version of HM2 if you aren't using v7836 - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_2_Update.exe

Can you make sure you have the latest version of NC (http://wiki.assaultware.com/How-to-make-sure-you-have-the-very-latest-NoteCaddy-build.ashx)?

Did this used to behave the way you are suggesting it should? I reproduced this with 7852 and rolled back to 7785 and 7742 and they both behave the same way so it seems to me that this by design and/or been acting this way for quite some time since 7742 was released back in May of this year.
