EDIT 3: problem solved. After 2 weeks of trying to solve this problem on my own, the second i post here for additional help i am able to solve it. i deleted the Pid file again (2nd time) and reinstalled sql (3rd time) and now it works.
Had HM working on my laptop for quite some time.
About a month ago, after an windows update probably, HM stopped working.
I got this message: Failed to establish a connection to ‘127.0.0.1’
Went through your FAQs. Painstakingly did everything in the one below:

Now I have pretty much the same kind of error message: Failed to establish a connection to ‘127.0.0.1’
I've tried so many things. Finally I downloaded the trial for PT3. Got that to work, once that loads, if I NOW load HM, HM works. Once I close PT3, HM no longer works.
I also read this thread, where you guys ask the guy if his PW works.

for some reason, my password, does not work. does knowing that help solve this problem.
i would very much appreciate any help b/c holdem manager is so much better, and i'm stuck out here in vietnam for 6 months before i can go back home to use my home computer that has xp and no problems.
you guys should also post a note for new users to disable windows update or advise them to add HM to the exceptions before this trouble happens.

and cannot start PostgresSQL in my services as Pieter suggests in the final post.
is this b/c i don't know the correct password? how did i get it right for pt3?
EDIT 2: looked at another thread where you said to go into "event viewer" and for the postgresSQL error it wrote "could not create any TCP/IP sockets.
