doing a vacuum

if i use the auto vacuum in the program will it change the stats i have on players? i want to free up some space but i dont want to change stats. also the video in the knowledge base dose not work for this function.

Vacuum/Analyse/Reindex will have NO influence on your stats.

They all only do something similar to defragging a harddisk.
Making the database more "compact" and putting data that belongs together closer to each other--> so more efficient and faster queries/searches can be run.

ok so if i want to purge hands i can do that without messing up the stats as well correct? is there a video on how to do that?

Purging: use options---> settings--> observed HH Configuration--> Purge hands-->

That way you'll lose the ability to replay the hand. But you'll keep all the stats.
It'll only save you about 10% of diskspace. Really not a lot.... so read

logging is off but my hard disk is almost half full. so i was thinking bout cleaning it out a little

i cant get it to work every time i try. the whole program freezes. even if i only try to do 1 months hands at a time

Please try to purge only 1 day. Sometimes the purge has problems with larger amounts.

If 1 day works you can try to purge larger periods.

well the purge was not going well so i fig i would vacuum and optimize.
that did not go well either got error 57014. something about request stopped by user? i cant remember but that was the code. can u help me with this?

Manually vacuum/analyse/reindex the database in pgadminIII, so NOT using the optimization tool in HoldemManager.

ok i did the manual vacuum and it seemed pretty quick. dose it really only take a few mins or did i close it out too quick? is there a reason after i did the manual one that the auto one still dose not work?

should postgres.exe show up 5 times in task mgr even though hem is not running?

Postgres.exe showing up 5+ times is normal.


The optimization tool often doesn't work: if you don't use SQL 8.4, or have it installed to a non-default installation folder (or not on C:/)
Just use pgadminIII instead.
