View Full Version : Extreme lag during my grind

I have been using HEM for about a year now and this month I randomly get extreme lag in the middle of my session (18 tables or less) which manifests in a barely responding system.

Only a reboot solves this problem. A HUD restart provides temporary ease but it's still extremely hard to play.

I didn't install any new software and followed the top 10 performance increase tips.

I don't have any anti virus software running or other programs that could interfere with HEM.

I'd appreciate anything I could try before I re-install windows.

I have this same problem. Not only the lag, but my HUD constantly misses rush tournaments. And now its messing up on non-rush tables. If I want my HUD back on those tables, I have to restart mid-session (16 tables), REAL FUN. Not only that, But when I do close HEM, it freezes Full Tilt e v e r y s i n g l e t i m e.

This is exactly what I have been experiencing. Everytime I close HEM it freezes FTP. Also, My HUD never works for the $55 scheduled rush tournament that starts at 2:45 EST. My HUD works fine for everything else until I get late in rush On Demand tourneys. When we start to play short handed while still in the rush tournament My HUD will start acting funny. I'll try to explain what is happening. Let me know if it is hard to follow.

Ok so, When we get down to around 5 players a hand in the rush portion of On Demands, my hands will continue to import fine, but the individual player Stat boxes will not be where they are supposed to be. But it's consistant though. The player to my left's Stat Box(SB) will appear over the chair/player that is 4 to my left. The players that are 2 and 3 to my left will not show a SB anywhere on the table. The player to my right's SB will appear over the chair/player to my left. and so on. So HEM HUD's is still recognizing the players in certian seats but puts their SB in the wrong place, but it does so consistantly. In certian seats the players are not being recognized at all. Once we make the final table, the HUD works flawlessly again. I need this fixed pronto b/c it is costing me a ton of money.

@GrindingItOut

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off.
Do the same for the main FullTilt.exe

Manually run a Windows Update and install all updates.. including non-critical .net framework updates, that aren't installed automatically.

How many players are in your database?
What are your computer specs: CPU/RAM/harddisk speed, etc.

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

I forgot to mention that I'm running the latest version (1.11.05e).

I'm using Win XP Pro.

My database contains about 80k players and is about 7GB big. I have no idea about the number of hands as I'm a SnG grinder.

The problem might have started after I switched to non turbos but I'm not very sure about that.

I used to work in tech support myself so I usually am able to identify the root cause.

You turned off logging in postgresql.conf (in
http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/11194-top-10-hem-performance-increase-tips.html )?

Did you install the latest update from PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org) updating SQL?

Your XP is updated to SP3 and has ALL updates installed?

Try creating a new empty database, reimporting your hands.

Yes to all.

The problem seems to originate from the HMImport.exe taking excessive CPU load.

Try creating a new empty database, reimporting your hands.

I'll have to reinstall windows within the next few days and hope the problem won't appear again.

If it does I'll assume it's database related and just create a new one.
