postgres doesnt work when installing

i have just baught a new laptop dell 3400 vostros and i cant seem to install postgres HEM works fine( i have used HEM for the last year)
Fix for PostgreSQL cannot start error 127.0.0.1 i have read that thread i have read the thread with regards to making sure you have acess and no anti viruses on, i have installed postgres 8.4 separately it doesn't seem to work

when i click on the show details it says i cant connect to to 127.0.0.1

The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.
