Hello,

I was using hold em manager until one day when I tried opening it, an error prevented me from using the software.

It crashes upon execution. I have attached a screen shot of the error and tried everything in your forum link below to rectify the problem. Nothing worked.

I have followed the steps to uninstall HM with Revo Uninstaller, but still have the same problem.

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Can you manually run a Windows Update and install all important/critical updates, AND all non-critical .net framework updates

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I am not currently using any anti virus - uninstalled Avast Pro to try and troubleshoot.

I have already set the permissions for dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe to run as administrator.

I have uninstalled .net framework and installed .net framework 3.5 service pack 1

but non of these have fixed the problem

Manually run a Windows Update.... there is no .net framework 4.0 that can be installed?

Reinstall HM using the 93 mb full installer @ http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe

Install it to a DIFFERENT folder.

I did the Windows Update, installed .net framework 4.0 and installed the .exe file you gave me the link to, nothing worked :(

Try this:
Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework:

1) Download and run this uninstaller -
http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
2) Install this one:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

I already tried that too

I just did everything at once, i.e.

used revo uninstaller,
re installed dotnetfx,
*already had windows update
*made sure all privileges were set to administrator

and still nothing. Is there anything else I can do?

I've been doing some research and found a thread where someone else was also having a problem with 'mscorwks.dll'. Although this person is using a different program, it appears Holdem Manager may be trying to access parts of the module it's not meant to.

The thread is located here;
mscorwks.dll causes application crash... - Vista Forums (http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/201091-mscorwks-dll-causes-application-crash.html)

Either your .net framework installation is still buggy or your windows is damaged.

I'm afraid only a fresh windows installation will solve this but we can try to help you via remote access before this final solution: Please schedule a remote support session with our support. Email support@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread and your forum name, so we can setup a Teamviewer (http://www.holdemmanager.net/teamviewer) session.

Whoa... what about running 'sfc.exe /scannow' to check integrity?

Whoa... what about running 'sfc.exe /scannow' to check integrity?

thanks for your suggestion. I ran sfc.exe /scannow and received the following message

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log.............

The log is approx 14 mb. What should I look for in the log file?

The normal procedure is for the SFC to ask for your windows installation disk so that it can repair/replace the corrupted files. If SFC did not ask for this it normally means:

a. your copy of windows is pirate (say, the bogus XP Pro version that was running around), or
b. you have a modified version of windows (normally done by Dell, Hp etc) where you don't necessarily get a windows disk, just an image burned to your HD.

You may have to go with netsrak's recommendation for a remote session or a full reinstall.

Just incase any one is reading this forum and would like a final response, following what The Mind had said, a system repair (performed when booting the computer from the installation CD), was unsuccessful. I also tried running check disk through the bios and performing checks on all memory modules.

I finally gave in and decided to re install windows, everything is fine now.
