hey,

I grind SnG's and am pretty dissapointed in my play EV wise.. is the red line on the graph suppose to be the same as the $Ev won column in the data sheet?

if so then i think i have a problem.. if you look at the below picture you can see my stats page with my red ev line.. in the last tournament i played i should have gained 18 EV dollars goin by the stats page but on the graph i only gained 7?

let me know if i have this totally wrong :) , at least then i'll know i'm running extremely well..

cheers

EDIT: when i export my results to excel to make my own graph the $EV won line in excel has different figures than in my stats page in HM, like where hm's stats have me up $10EV the excel has me ( one the same tourney ) down -$5EV.

on a side note,

can someone explain where Hm is gettin a minus $ev on this hand?

in wiz, it has a +3.5% equity gain when the villain is given the appropriate range, meaning in the long run or my "expected value" would be +$3.89.

even if he's shoving 13% its a profitable call..

if we both start at say $16 ish Eq pre and you run a quick simulation in your head, i win 2/3's of the time so over 100 times i gain say $14x64 = $896 and i lose $16x34 = $576.. difference is +$320.

where is HM getting these ( as far as i can see incorrect ) figures?

We had some problems with the EV calculations in the latest versions.
In 1.11.05e this should be fixed.

You don't gain all his equity if you win this hand.
Most equity is distributed among villain 2 and villain 3. It's actually irrelevant who wins the hand, since either outcome guarantees the two bigstacks (villain 2 and villain 3) to make it into the money.

HoldemManager uses the ICM model.
Where is HM showing -EV???
It should show a negative EV Diff but that's only because you won the hand, having a 36% chance to lose.
Had you lost the hand this EV Diff would be positive.

hey thanks for they reply, yeah i know i dont gain it all i was doin a quick workthrough in my head, but thanks for the explanation on the minus EV display.. makes a bit more sense now ;) i really need to learn more!

@netsrak.. I'm already using that version.. as it happens i had to do a full format do to a virus/worm.. so this is a new database on a new version and i still can't see why some of my ev gains aren't represented.

thanks guys

FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: EV Explained (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/120/EV+Explained)

Hi, I'm having the very same problem as OP, so i thought i'd just reply here instead of creating another thread.

I play SNG's, too, and there is something wrong with my $EV graph.

I exported all hands ( most of which were tracked with 1.11.05d ), updated to 1.11.05e, created a new database and re-imported all hands, but the graph is still the same ! ( tried this 3 times, graph is always the same )

What else can i do to fix my $EV graph ? ( It's obviously flawed, since some tournaments with huge overall +$EV outcome generate negative bends in the EV-curve )

I noticed that the $EV-graph of SNG's tracked with 1.11.05c seems to be correct - will downgrading to 1.11.05c help, and if so, how can i re-install 1.11.05c without losing my settings ( HUD etc. ) ?

Thx for your help :)

EV in 1.11.05c and 1.11.5e should be the same.

It's possible your exported hands caused the problem. Can you create a NEW empty database, importing the original handhistories in 1.11.05e?

If the results then still are the same, email us an example of a SNG where you think the results are wrong to support@holdemmanager.com
