View Full Version : people at HM can do stat analysis across players, but we cannot do it for ourselves

When are we going to be able to add stats to the reports in the Players tab?

There are a few articles in which analysis was done on a large number of players. There is also now a request for hand histories to do the "Normalized Range" project, and I will be interested in seeing those results when the project is completed.

However, I think that it is odd how the HM application is set up in such a way that in order for someone to do this type of analysis, unless he wants to look at a very narrow group of stats, he needs to study the database structure and then code the SQL himself. The underlying problem is that we, the users, are not able to add stats to the reports in the Players tab.

I created a poll to allow us to do this, and that poll is here: http://forums.holdemmanager.com/holdem-manager-suggestions/40743-add-stats-reports-players-tab.html

There are a few posts that suggest you have been thinking about doing this for a while. For example

Its not possible to add stats to the Player TAB currently
That quote is from this thread http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/29043-players-tab.html?highlight=players+tab

In this thread here http://forums.holdemmanager.com/custom-reports/28588-players-reports.html?highlight=players+tab , a user asked about the reports in the players tab, and got this response:

We plan on building a custom report builder

In this thread here http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/31503-question-about-stats-under-players-tab.html?highlight=players+tab , another user asked about the reports in the Players tab, and he got this response:

... Eventually this will be customizable.

When are we going to be able to add stats to the reports in the Players tab?

Thanks, ill chase this up and see what can be done. I know its a pretty big job as it will require changing the database structure which will require everyone reimport their hands but i think its probably worth it.

Thank you.

I started looking closer at these reports, and I realized how very useful they could be if just a few more things were done with them.

There is one more thing that I think would improve these reports quite a bit. We are currently able to click on a column to see a range distribution analysis that shows the median winrate of five ordered ranges for the statistic. It would be very good if a second range distribution was also done at the same time, on the same column, but have that second analysis contain ten ordered ranges instead of just five.

Another thing that I noticed is that we need to have all of the positions in the "Preflop by Position" report. Currently it just has "early" and "late" positions, but it needs to have EP MP CO BTN SB for the unopened-PFR stats.

Ok ill mention those other issues too, not making any promises but ill mention to the developers and see whats involved

There is also filter criteria. If we could filter based on a min and max PFR/VPIP Ratio, it would allow us to do analysis on different playing styles. And if we could also filter based on min and max Winrate, that would allow us to do comparative analysis on winning players versus losing players.

I was also thinking about what would be good for heads-up play, but I have not been very focused on heads-up concepts lately. In a couple months I do plan on looking closer at heads-up again, so if development is still going on with these reports at that time, then maybe I will be able to offer some other suggestions.

It would also be good to have the ability to specify a PFR range for the filter criteria. The only down side to doing this is that we would then have filter based on VPIP, PFR, and PFR/VPIP Ratio, so a new user might make a mistake by entering values for all three that will return no players at all. The solution to this would be to have a check-box next to each of those three range filters that would turn each range filter on or off.

Here is another thing that is very important for filter criteria. We need to be able to filter the reports based on minimum buy-in. Otherwise, the reports will be inaccurate.

Here is a list of the game types available at Full Tilt:
- Rush
- Deep (min 75bb)
- Standard (min 35bb)
- Cap (min 30bb)
- Shallow (min 20bb)

The filter for the reports already recognizes Rush games and CAP games. Here is an image that shows where:

In order for us to be able to do accurate analysis, we must be able to not only filter on cap and rush, but also on deep and shallow tables as well.
