View Full Version : old HEM suddenly asking to activate

I have been running HEM for a good while now - and used it successfully as recently as last night. Today, I went to start it, and was told it had to activate (as if it was on 0 days left of 15 day trial)...But I bought the Professional Licence a couple of years ago now so it really shouldn't be asking me to activate it again. Anyhow, I click the button to go ahead and activate and it gives me an error....

It seems to have what I presume is my correct serial code in there - but when I get it to show me details it says

- ! Could not activate license at server
X The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.holdemmanager.net'

I am running version 1.11.4. I have not attempted to upgrade it recently. I have not been making any changes to the hardware on my computer - so as to make it think it was a different computer.

As I said, it worked fine yesterday - today no go. What's it doing trying to connect to holdemmanager.net anyhow - that isn't even this domain???

On the troubleshooting screen there is a link to go to Registration Home Page (http://www.holdemmanager.net/registration) but that link is dead too (again pointing to the .net domain???)

So I went back through my old emails and found the one where I had signed up for the HEM Account Registration - anyhow the Serial code that is in there shows it is active, and shows the same code as on the "Licencing Issues" page that I see when trying to start HEM.

SO I hit Reset all Profiles there and it tells me it was successul. But nothing changes when I try and restart HEM...I have copy and pasted the error details below, please advize. Thanks:

Update to http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/Hm_1.11.05e_internal.exe

Read: FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: I Can't Activate & Register Holdem Manager (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/24/ICan%27tActivate%26RegisterHoldemManager)

Try to debug the software:

1. Update to http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe
2. Create a new text document in the Config folder and name it LicDebug
3. Open HM and register
4. Close HM and delete the LicDebug.txt file

Thanks for the response Patvs.

I did as you suggested and upgraded to the 1.11.5.internal...read through the FAQ (the files that occasionally need to be deleted according to the FAQ do not exist on my machine - yes I am viewing hidden/system files.) nothing else much of interest there.

So to debug, I created the text file as instructed...sure enough this causes it to start up a bit differently (as though registering for the first time)...but when I do that, it still fails - telling me, it was unable to obtain a licence- after numerous tries....? I deleted the LicDebug.txt file and then we are back to where I was yesterday....

I copied the details from when I tried using the LicDebug.txt file....would you like them e-mailed or PM or anything? It's seems to be saying a bunch of things such as it can't resolve holdemmanager.net..... but another line says that the licence was used to unlock another licence or was modified at the server? Could someone have basically stolen my licence code or something, and now it is getting locked out?

Please advize.

Thank You.

sent the file to the support email ... have sense started HEM again today (and it seems to have started up - with a LicDebug.txt file in the config folder...and now, I deleted that file again, and it starts 100% normally??? ummm, ok

well I am up and running again anyhow it seems...

If something was changed on the backend somewhere - thanks!
