I get the following error message.

An error occured while loading Prefs files: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Xml, Version=2.0.0,
Culture=neutral. PublicKey Token=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Thanks

Delete the file config\prefs.xml in the holdemmanager installation folder and restart HM.

The file will be generated again and you need to reconfigure your hud.

Ok so i went to C:/Program Files/RVGSoftware/HoldemManager/Config folder and deleted the prefs.xml.

The same error still occurs when i try to start up.

Anything i'm doing wrong here?

Thanks

Are you sure you deleted the right file - there are 3 prefs.xml... files in the folder. You need to delete the one which name is just prefs.xml with no digits.

And please check your holdemmanager installation folder in the file properties of the HM Icon. It is possible that you have 2 installations and deleted the file in the wrong path.

I deleted just the 1 prefs.xml file. (the one without digits)

But i cannot find the holdem manager installation folder you refer to?

the prefs.xml file i deleted was found by right clicking the HM icon, properties, open file location, open config folder and there it was.

Thanks for your patience, i feel so dumb lol

That sounds ok for me.

Are you using any 3rd party firewall, anti-spyware, adaware, tuning or registry cleaning programs? And if yes which ones?

Please uninstall HEM using Revo Uninstaller: FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Using Revo Uninstaller (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/126/Using+Revo+Uninstaller+)

After completion please reboot your computer and download and install the full installer from our homepage. Please make sure that the postgresql option is disabled during the installation.

I turned off windows firewall and uninstalled AVG.

HEM didnt show up in REVO Uninstaller. So i Uninstalled using control panel.

Rebooted and downloaded HEM again and got the same error message.

If you have installed HM correctly - it must be listed in Revo
try it again

Hi there

i became frustrated with this and gave up. I'd now like to try again, i've done all the things suggested in this thread but still get the original error message.

Would re-installing windows be a good idea and starting from fresh...?

thanks

Turn off UAC: How to Disable and Turn Off UAC in Windows 7 « My Digital Life (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/30/how-to-disable-and-turn-off-uac-in-windows-7/)

Then try to reinstall HoldemManager with the full installer @ http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe and install it to a different folder. (not to Program Files/xxxxx)

Windows often blocks any activity to Program Files/ subfolders causing these problems)

I.m still getting the error message -

An error occured while loading Prefs files: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Xml, Version=2.0.0,
Culture=neutral. PublicKey Token=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
