View Full Version : HM wont start after latest update

I have just updated to the latest patch and now when i try to open HM i get a pop up saying -

The following error occured when trying to open database; Failed to establish connection to 127.0.0.1'
I press ok and it brings up the the Database Control Panel/ connect to postgreSQL

i press connect it says - A connection to postgreSQL could not be made, would you like HM to attemp to start the sevice?

I press yes and get a popup - Holdem manager has started the service, please try again

i press ok and im back to the Database Control Panel/ connect to postgreSQL

what do i need to do to get everything running again, im using vista and have checked that everything that should be running as aministrator and it it

Edit, i have tried the sticky 'Fix for PostgreSQL cannot start error 127.0.0.1' and it is still bringing the same error

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

Make sure windows is fully updated and change your Windows Control Panel > Regional Settings Format to English (USA).

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. Please try following these FAQs, step by step:

3) Still Can't Connect to PosgreSQL? Try This! - Holdem Manager Forums (http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8261)

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands using these instructions

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) Use our combo installer to reinstall PostgreSQL. Make sure you un-check Holdem Manager during installation. http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe

If that installer fails to install PostgreSQL, please reinstall PostgreSQL using the following instructions:
A) Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt > Right-Click > Run As Administrator

net user postgres /delete
B) Reboot.
C) Try installing this version of PostgreSQL - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Postgres_8.3.9-v1.0.7.exe
