Which is best for database ?

OCZ revodrive or vertex 2 signle SSD ( no raid )

is TRIM support necesary for databases ?

OCZ Revodrive will be faster.... but isn't it also 2+ times more expensive?
And it won't be 2x as fast, so in terms of price per gigabyte versus performance, it's definately too expensive for what you get.

TRIM isn't really needed, since OCZ also has something called "garbage collecting" (GC) which also does a adequate job to keep the drive fast. But if you have to choose between a drive with TRIM versus without TRIM (best example: Intel X-25M G1 vs Intel X-25M G2 Postville) always get the one WITH TRIM.

Yeh price /performance for Revodrive is bad.

I`ll try OCZ vertex 2 :)
