is it possible to use HM w/out being online? I would like to view my stats sometimes and I don't have internet connection. Also I'd like to delete some hands as well

Yes HM needs to connect approx every 2 weeks or so to verify the license, other than that it should work fine offline

I'm guessing this is the case if you keep HEM running - it looks like it validates the license every time upon loading. I tried to do a database review a few weeks ago when work was being done by my ISP and after firing it up it told me I had an unregistered version. It was fine a few hours later after my internet came back up.

It should work as Morny posted. The license is checked regularly but between this intervall checks it should work without internet connection.
Are you using any registry protection tool or registry cleaner? This might block the licence check.

Hmm, every time I start up HEM, the splash screen states: Validating... and underneath this "Unregistered Version". I do not have any registry protection or cleaners installed on the PC HEM is running on. I just tested it a number of times, and each time with no connection to the internet it's telling me that I need to connect to validate my license. When connected I have no problems - loads as normal. I'm using the small stakes version.

That should say that every time and its normal as it checks the license file on your PC to make sure its registered and occasionally checks the server too.

Please try the following if your still having issues:
First of all, Enable the option to see Hidden Files and Disable "Hide protected operating system files": How to see hidden files in Windows (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html) - It should look like this: http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/images/hidden.jpg

1. Delete C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\holdemmanager.exe.ldat (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)

2. Delete C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager.lic (XP Users can find the file at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\AppData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager.lic)
