Hi.
Somehow after I started my PC today, and started HM on it, it wanted to be registered again. (I was using HM the days before. It was registered and activated).
I entered the Reg.- Key, and clicked on "Activate now ...[sth. about active internet connection]"
After a short while HM said it yould not Connect to the Server.
This is the Information I got, by clicking on "copy [error report] to clipboard":

HM was running well before, and I did not change any Software/Hardware.
The version is NOT 1.6.0.0., as said in the error file, but 1.06.03h.

I have read some posts about errors with activating/registering.
I did already try to delete the holdemmanager.exe."ldat"(?), without success.
I don´t think reinstalling my .NET Framework wil help ?
Maybe its just, that the remote Server is down?

Regards
Julius

Update:

I just tried to completely uninstall and reinstall HM, without success.
If I click on "Activate Later" ( HM says, that I have 7 Days of Trial left), it says, it could not optain a valid license.... Here is the Error log:

I dont get it. I did really not change anything on my System, or HM. I just didnt use it for the Weekend.
But as it seems, my PC does not let HM contact the Server.
(btw. I do not have any Firewall ! I am using my router as Firewall, but i did put my PC in the DMZ (DemilitarizedZone = all ports open/no Firewall) for testing purposes.... no effect).

kind regards
Julius

I got the same error message under the same circumstances... But, I think I really f'd things up... I installed postgress 8.3 (a couple of times) and once was able to connect, but there was nbo sign of my very large database 90K players, who knows how many hands. did I just loose all my stats? I then unintalled postgress and reinstalled it and now it won't connect. I have postgres 8.2 but now I'm thinking that was for my PT2 database and have now lost my entire HM database.... HELP!

FWIW, I'll pay you for some remote support!

Ok well need to take one thing at a time, unless you manually deleted the PostgreSQL folder youll still have your database, well need to connect first though. You say you cant connect can you tell me what the error is that you get when oyu try to connect

rabr

when I start HM, I get the following message (sorry can't figure out how to copy it):

"The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failure to establisha connection to '127.0.0.1'. "

i click "OK" and it takes me to the "Database control Panel" that has server name, port number, login name, passowrd boxes and a button to connect, when attempted, says "a connection tp postgresql could not be made. Would you loe to have H attemot to start the service? Yes/ No, and saem thing will happen...

I'm not sure how the OP was able to retreive his error messages, b/c I can't start HM...

Like I said before, but to clarify, when I 1st encountered the prob today, I re-installed postgres 8.3 (w/o removing it prior), was able to connect, but when it asked my for a database name (the box was empty) I just created a new one, HM started, but obv. w/o my orig. database. I then un installed postgres intalled it again and followed the instructions to keep the databse box left unchecked during postgres install, thinking it would then revert back to my orig data base.. But this time, post gres wouldn't connect and thus HM would start. sorry for this mass of shit! hopefully it's understandable.

Ok if you scroll to C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\

Is there 2 folders in one for PostgreSQL8.2 and one for 8.3 ??

Hey there.
I still cannot connect, which means I cant use HM.
Without HM playing poker is like watching a movie without sound...
Is the server still down?

kind regards

Hi, the server was only down for about 20 minutes yesterday - I think you probably have firewall / anti virus or ant-spyware software blocking HM from getting out on the internet

Could you check that

Hi.
Seriously, this is strange!
I disabled Kaspersky Ant Virus
I have no software Firewall installed (windows Firewall is off)
I just configured my router, so I am an "Exposed Host" now.
restarted PC and router, without success.

When I run Wireshark, and try to activate, I see that my PC wants to connect to a special IP (91.89.1.93). Is this the server? Wireshark shows a error message:
"Destination unrechable (Communication administratively filtered)"
-------I did not change anything. The problem occured suddenly out of nothing ----
Any ideas?

Ok whats probably happened is youve a blank database in one of those folders and yours is in the other folder so we just need to send postgreSQL to the other folder, email me morny@holdemmanager.net and ill set it up for you also provide a link to this thread

Thanks

Disabling antiviruses often isnt enough, can you completely uninstall it and also add the .exe files in C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\ to the exceptions list of windows firewall then reboot and try again

Also add them .exe files to Windows Defenders exceptions list too

Also i presume you followed all these steps:

Hi.
I solved the problem doing, what you said.
If someone has the same Problem, here is what I did, and what worked:

- Set PC as Exposed Host in router
- Activate Windows Firewall (was deactivated at my PC), try to connect, allow HM to connect in Windows Firewall (" Don not block anymore" )
- Deactivate Firewall
- Uninstall Anti Virus
- Restart PC
--> :-)

I am having a similar problem with HEM. It will not connect to the internet to validate, and thus won't start. I have tried Turning my windows firewall on and off and explicitly allowing it through windows firewall preferences. I have Uninstalled all Anti-virus software, and I have looked for the .ldat file but could not find it. I have complete internet functionality in all of my other programs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled HEM as well. I am running windows XP FWIW.

Enable the options to see Hidden Files and System Protected Files: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html

http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/images/hidden.jpg

1. Delete C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\holdemmanager.exe.ldat (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)

2. Delete C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager.lic (XP Users can find the file at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\AppData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager.lic)

3. Update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

If you can't find those files, DO NOT delete any other files with similar names.

If that doesn't help, try this:

1. Shutdown Hold'em Manager
2. Navigate to your RVG Software/Holdem Manager/Config folder
3. Create a file called LicDebug.txt
4. Restart Hold'em Manager

You should hopefully be able to enter your new code now. Once you have done this close Hold'em Manager, delete LicDebug.txt and restart Hold'em Manager.

If you still have problems, try this:

1) Open your Internet Explorer and go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections and click on "LAN-Settings" at the bottom.
2) Uncheck every box in the small new menu and click ok.
3) Try to register HM again.

If you still can't register, please email support@holdemmanager.net, with a link to this thread, and your forum name.

Please attach your Reg.log from the C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Logs folder to support@holdemmanager.net.

All right it is back online.

So it was your servers...

If this should happen again, a message either in HEM window or in our mail or in your sites index webpage stating that the servers are down would spare us time and worry (I did extensive diagnosis including system restauration)

Once we were aware of the situation we put a message on the forums in the Notices box at the top of each page. We didn't realize it until we looked in the support email box and there were 120+ emails in the previous 2 hours.

I don't know if a mass e-mail is possible, but it was mentioned in passing the other day.

Other solution,

From your home page, a link to a page "server status"

Then on the server status page, we know if the servers are up or down.

that is how they do it for mmorpgs servers
