"Move Database to Another Hard Drive or Partition" is only meant if you want to change the data folder on your computer.

I tried moving my DB like this (used the HEM faq) from c: to d: yet after I change the registry it doesn't work and postgres crashes on "start service". when I change the registry (via regedit like it says in the faq) then the service starts normally.

any idea what might cause this? I quadruple checked that I wrote the right path on the new drive yet it is always the same.

I do use XP x64, but I don't know why would this have anything to do with anything..

help ?

XP x64 has some specific problems, since x64 can't be updated to Service Pack 3

Can't you just reimport all your hands into a new database, after you've installed SQL to a different partition.

I can. I just didn't know of the specific problems so figured this was quicker.
