I've had no issue with HEM on my laptop until today when I tried to open it. I received an error message that I have never seen, word for word it says the following

The following error occurred when trying to open the database: A timeout has occurred. If you were establishing a connection, increase Timeout value on ConnectionString. If you were executing a command, increate the CommandTimeout value in ConnectionString or in your Npgsql Command object.

The message appears exactly like that ^^^ with misspelled words and no commas etc, when I hit ok it takes me to the database control panel and still wont connect, thanks for your help

Reboot your computer and try again.
If that doesn't help this is probably caused by any new software you installed or an update of your security software, please check this:

I'm using a security program that's not listed on that link, CA internet security. I did everything that I could think of or that has been suggested and I'm still getting that same message. HEM did pop up once or twice but then it wont and I get that error message again, any other ideas or info on that security program that might help?

update to http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Holdem_Manager_Beta.exe

Uninstall the security program and reboot

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Well I updated to the latest version and did everything aside from uninstalling the security program bc I no longer have the disk and don't want to go without it. Also fwiw I've been using this security program w/HEM w/no problems until now. Not sure if that helps but it's still giving me the same message
