I play Double or nothing sngs. Usually 16 table them but have done 24 tables before and probably will do 24 tables with HEM and TN on Pokerstars. I normally play on a desktop and use a 20.1 monitor with 1600x1200 resolution where i can see all 4 tables with little overlap Its an i5-750 processor with 4gb ram and 500gb hard drive. I have old laptop and it LAGS A TON.

This is the laptop i am looking at

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dncwbs2&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=laptop-studio-1555)

What would you recommend to upgrade? Should i upgrade the HD display from 720P to 1080P? Does anyone know what is the resolution for 720p and 1080p on a 15.6 laptop? I currently have a very old dell 15.4 laptop that is very slow pentium 4 processor and 2gb ram and has 1280x800 resolution. It lags a lot whenever i do 16 tables. What about the battery? Is it better to choose the 9 cell battery as oppose to 6 cell? I know 9 cell is more heavy but if you choose 9 cell does it mean you only get a 9 cell battery?

I don't play any video games and this laptop will be for 24 tabling sngs and browsing the web and playing music. Should i get the backlight keyboard?? I rarely use a laptop and have my lights closed. I don't think i need to upgrade the 320gb hard drive to 500gb because i don't download movies and keep lot of files in my computer. I will mostly be using this laptop at home when I'm watching some football games on tv and grinding sngs. I didn't want a 17' laptop because it is too big and a 13.3 or 14' one would be too small.

Any advice would be great.

read:
http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/11194-top-10-hem-performance-increase-tips.html

Best upgrade is:
The harddisk. (--> SSD)
And you could use more RAM. (i.e 4 GB)
If using the laptop at home, just hook it up to a regular power socket, so it really doesn't matter what type of battery is has.

Hey yes i read those tips already. I wanted to know if this is a good laptop for multitabling 20 games and having HEM and Tableninja on or if there is another laptop that is good for it.

The Dell laptop looks fine.

It can only lag if you will use a 10+ million hand database, for regular HoldemManager use (<3 million hands) it should be fine.

Would even using an i-3 processor be fine? I am going to get the i5-450 anyways. Also, getting 1080p is definitely a good idea right since i want to see more tables? I do not resize any of the 20 tables and basically just let them load on my screen when i play on my desktop which has a 20.1 monitor and 1600x1200 resolution.

i3 is still OK
1080p resolution is a must-have,... especially if you're tiling tables.
If you play all 24+ tables stacked on top of each other it doesn't really matter... but you should still get 1080p.

Hey, would you say it would be a horrible idea getting a 13.3 laptop to 20 table?? I kind of want a smaller laptop and my old laptop is 15.4 and feels heavy. I mean i will be using it at home almost all the time so it shouldn't matter.

If you'll stack 20 tables, 13 inch will be fine.

If you're at HOME most of the time, consider just getting a nice desk, deskchair and DESKTOP.

Hey i do have a desktop that i bought few months ago. Its those Dell xps desktops with i5 processor with 4gb ram and runs good with HEM and TN on.

But i also want a new laptop as well. What is stacking?? The way i play it on my laptop or desktop with 20 tables, i basically just let the tables load and do not move them at all. What is that called? I heard it was sort of stacking but it isn't?

These are the 13.3 laptop i am looking at. Would you say the processor is okay? The one negative thing though is its 5400rpm and i know 7200rpm is what you should have for HEM and TN but i really want a smaller laptop even though i will use it at home almost all the time. The resolution is smaller but that should be expected.

The battery life many people say is around 8 hours but i know it would be less if you watch movies or play poker with HEM and TN on. How much hours battery life do you think i would get with these laptops with 20 tables running and HEM and TN on??

Battery life: I don't know.
But if you're playing mostly at home on the couch / in bed, it'll be easy for you to just connect it to a power outlet.

----

Stacking tables: is all the tables fully overlap.
Tiled: they don't overlap (this is how I play on my desktop)
Cascaded: they partially overlap

example cascaded http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s3488IVP1F8/Sz8z-_lMp0I/AAAAAAAAAFk/1RId5rriIGk/s640/overlap.jgp

If you play TILED. Resolution is very important. Since only a maximum number of tables will FIT on a screen. (12 tables on 1920x1080 for example)

Cascaded it all depends on how much overlap you use. In the example pic there are 6 tables with 50% overlap. But many players play 24 tables cascaded with only 5% overlap.

STACKING requires the use of TableNinja or some sort of program, that always brings the table to the front that requires action.

Hi. What method would this be on my desktop? 20.1 monitor with 1600x1200 resolution. When you see 4 tables opened, there is no overlap except a little at the edges. That would be tile correct? But once another table opens up, it goes in front of the table. So if i have 8 tables opened up, you clearly see the 4 tables and there is 1 table behind each table. Thus when i have 20 tables opened, you see 4 tables on the desktop but 4 behind each table for a total of 20. What would that be called? Is it partially stacked and tiled??

I play on my laptop the same way right now EXCEPT there is overlap the moment 2 tables show up. I basically let all those tables load and i HATE resizing it because the tables are so small and i can't see very well. When i load them on a laptop with say 1280x800 resolution and don't do anything, what method is that called? I plan to do this as well with the new laptop i want and no resizing.

Get a Samsung R519(2gb ram) £349 or upgraded £399 (4gb ram 3yr warranty and 3yr Anti virus) from Argos has great reviews and is
very sought after in the US sells for $1000 over there.

What would that be called? Is it partially stacked and tiled?? and i can't see very well.

You're playing 5 x 4 stacked.
(4 tiles, each tile stacks 5 tables)

If you also use 4 windows, and "sometimes can't see very well" test it first if 13.3 inch is large enough for you, as suggested by someone else in your 2+2 thread.

Where can i test a 13.3 screen?? Most of my friends do not have laptops and none of them don't play poker at all.

Patvs

The resolution of the 13.3 inch is 1366 x 768.

If your current resolution is 1600 x 1200, try playing 5x 4 tables using only HALF your screen.

Drew1

Do you want me to change the resolution on my desktop to 1360 X 768 on my dell 20.1 monitor ? Would that be a good example of how it would look?

Patvs
09-23-2010, 06:48 PM
You don't have to change the solution.
Since if you change it, it will be stretched over a 20 inch screen.

Just use half your current screen (to see if you can still read all the info on the tables) when you're forced to resize them to the smallest size

hey patvs.

Do you think the 13.3 laptop would be fine then with the processor it has? Do you know if there are 24 tablers who play with a 13.3 laptop and its fine for them?

Patvs

I don't know.

Bump your 2+2 thread, to see if players there know
