Make sure windows is fully updated and change your Windows Control Panel > Regional Settings Format to English (USA).

Please update to the latest beta - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/releases/35199-1-11-05-beta-13-a.html

i also tried uninstalling and re installing. its still freezing up. my windows set for auto updates,so it should be up to date, however when i tried to manually update ,that just goes on forever as well. i just keep seeing the bar move but nothing happens. I also have run both my antivirus and malwarebyte, with everything coming back clean.

XP is updated to Service Pack 3?
All .net framework updates for it installed when you run a windows update?
Can you add hmhud.exe, hmimport.exe and holdemmanager.exe to Windows Firewall exceptions list

yes im running service pack 3.

im running .netframework 4

and i shut my firewall completely and that still hasnt fixed the problem. It has worked fine for me since day 1. this is the 1st time ive had this problem. it worked up until yesterday,it was even working fine all during the mini ftops tourney i was playing. it just started happening out of nowhere

What version of postgresql? How old/big is the database? Do you perform regular maintenance/optimization?

*Try creating a new UTF DB - FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Create / Delete Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/75/Create+%7B47%7D+Delete+Database)
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: How to Import & Export Hands (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/98/How+to+Import+%26+Export+Hands)
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB.
*Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Reinstalling on a new PC - Backup Tips (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/372/Reinstalling+on+a+new+PC+-+Backup+Tips)

If it still won't work, I would probably try reinstalling postgresql.

1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.
2) Use our combo installer to reinstall PostgreSQL. Make sure you un-check Holdem Manager during installation. http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/Holdem_Manager_Setup.exe

If that installer fails to install PostgreSQL, please reinstall PostgreSQL using the following instructions:
A) Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt > Right-Click > Run As Administrator

net user postgres /delete
B) Reboot.
C) Try installing this version of PostgreSQL - http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/Postgres_8.3.9-v1.0.7.exe

Your computer seems to have hardware or system software problems.

You should try to run a chkdsk, a hardware diagnostic and you should think about a new windows installation

will setting my computer back to factory settings achieve the same thing as a fresh windows install or do i need to go and buy a new windows cd?

I don't about factory settings and why can't you reinstall your current windows?

I suggest this steps:
1. chkdsk
2. run a diagnostics tool like Sandra
3. Reinstall windows if everything is ok in 1. and 2.

When you reinstalled Windows, did you reformat the harddisk?
