My HEM worked fine, but I didn't use it for maybe 4-6 months. Then when I opened it again I got the error saying:

"The following error occurred when trying to open the database: Failed to establish a connection to "127.0.0.1"

I try letting HEM manager start the service, but no dice. I try turning off firewall, no dice. I search forum and find this post:

http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/21295-connection-postgresql-could-not-made.html

where morny says to use REVO uninstaller and try reinstalling HEM. I do this, and install the latest version of HEM from scratch, and still I am getting the same error.

Please help....

Thanks,
Jonah

read: FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Can't Connect / Failed to Start PostgreSQL (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can%27tConnect%7B47%7DFailedToStartPostgreSQL)

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.

If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely
