Update to try http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Hm_1.11.05_Beta.exe
which SQL version are you using?

Can you run a vacuum/analyse first... to see if you have any errors..

I ran the vacuum/analyze and did not get any errors. I am running PostgreSQL 8.3

I do, however, notice a problem. The following file does not exist on my computer.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\95cb3f13-8c7f-4dce-8bc4-adf74cd796c3\dbs\Holdem Manager ***DEFAULT DATABASE***.sql

Is there somewhere else the relevant file might be?

Can you run the SQL 8.3.11 update/installer from PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org)

Is your database too large, to just reimport the original handhistories into a new database?

I have about 160,000 hands in my database. Do I need to update my SQL version or should I just try reimporting the original hand histories into a new database?

Would I be better off if I completely uninstall Holdem Manager and SQL and then reinstall using the HEM combo installer and then import my hand histories?

I'm still having problems using Holdem Manager's Backup Utility.

I get the following error message:

Holdem Manager ***DEFAULT DATABASE***: error: pg_dump: [archiver] could not open output file "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\d142dcfb-8985-4479-8b9d-362400c690b1\dbs\Holdem Manager ***DEFAULT DATABASE***.sql": Invalid argument

The tree goes as deep as C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\d142dcfb-8985-4479-8b9d-362400c690b1\dbs\

That's it. There is nothing in the dbs file. I'm confused as to why HM is trying to open an output file that does not exist.

I would really like to use this automatic backup feature. Do I need a newer version of postgreSQL? Should I uninstall everything and reinstall and then just reimport my hands? Please advise.

You don't have to uninstall anything.

Install SQL 8.4.4 on port 5433, and reimport all your hands into a NEW database.

I also have problems with backup utility, hem version 1.11.04. Backup starts normally and it starts to archive database but nothing happens, i waited for 2 hours, not any of the processes hangs, it doesn't even create backup file. When i click x to close backup window it closes immediately with no error messages. i've run vacuum analyze using pgadminIII, it goes ok but no help. Postgres version 8.3 and about 2 million hands.

Edit: i succesfully made hem backup with earlier version of hem, can't remember which version.

If the HM backup utility is not working you should use the pgadminIII backup function
