I have a problem with postgre and win7 ( home premium 64)
I have read a lot about it, but there is nothing I can do to solve it
If I’m trying to install Postgre with Hm installer (1.11.04) I have common win7+postgre error “Couldn’t install postgre”

If I’m trying to install postgresql-8.4.4-1 it says something like: “ Couldn’t initialisate Db cluster”

If I’m trying to install Postgres_8.3.9-v1.0.7 It stops on Creating folder c:\program files ( x86 )\postgres\8.3\Data , the installer is not responding after a while.
Those problems stays, if I’m installing it on a clean just installed window 7, with no firewalls or any other security programs . I’m turning off UAC, turning on secondary log on in services, turning off windows firewall in services. The result of the installations remains the same

try: The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.

Already done, wrote it above " I’m turning off UAC, turning on secondary log on in services, turning off windows firewall in services. The result of the installations remains the same"

All this errors mean that postgresql has a problem with accessing your harddisk.

Do you have a separate D: partition on which you can try the installation?

Try SQL 8.2.16

If that one fails email us with a link to this thread (or PM me) and we'll do a teamviewer session.

Where can I find it? All the links are already dead

8.2 working
Is it much slower than 8.4?

Not much, but as it is running on your system and the newer versions not i guess you have no other choice. :)
