I posted this issue http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-bugs/31624-players-tab-not-working.html some time ago.

However, as I never heard of a solution, I have used 1.10.1 beta which worked fine. Playing at Betfair, I needed to upgrade the software per your recommendation (in order to have the import work). Did the upgrade, but got the exact same problem.

Its really a huge issue for me, and as I can see, I'm not the only one with the problem.

Can you reinstall HoldemManager with the full installer. (don't reinstall SQL)
Do reinstall to a DIFFERENT folder.
Afterwards: update to http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Hm_1.11.05_Beta.exe
And create a NEW database.

Which SQL version are you currently using?

I'm using PostgreSQL ver. 8.2.

Should I upgrade this, and if so, how?

If I reinstall to a different folder, do I need to uninstall the current version? Also, what do I need to backup if uninstalling and then reinstalling the full package.

Postgresql Upgrade:
There is no easy upgrade path for postgresql 8.2 but this version has some limitations so you should go this way.
Create a backup of your 8.2 database via pgadminIII.
Download and install a postgresql 8.3 version from pgAdmin: PostgreSQL administration and management tools (http://www.pgadmin.org) (don't use 8.4 as it will not restore 8.2 backups!).
Install postgresql 8.3 using port 5433.
Connect to your new 8.3 database server via pgadminIII and create a new empty database (remember to use Port 5433): FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Backup & Restore Database (http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/72/Backup+%26+Restore+Database)

Restore your 8.2 backup into the 8.3 database.
Start holdemmanager and enter the new database server in the database management window (port 5433!).

Holdemmanager Installation:
Download the full installer and during the installation make sure that postgresql is unchecked and enter a different folder for the installation. You will create a separate Holdemmanager installation leaving the original one untouched.

Same for me. The main window of the 'Players' tab is empty (currently ~2K players in database).
I've re-installed HEM into different folder and created a new DB, same result.
Any suggestions?

That tab is for running filtered searches on your entire DB according to the filters/criteria and report selected on the left side-bar. The default report is for players from this month with 1k hands. Broaden the search filters.
