Hey Guys
I just bought a 2TB Western Digital 7200 RPM high performance drive. I have lots of hands I need to re-import. I basically have already imported my 20 mil+ hands. Now everything I import is at a rediculously slow speed. I have:

2.3Ghz Quad Core CPU
8 Gigs memory
Win 7 64 Bit + all win 7 performance tips
Regularly defrag/vacuum/reindex
HEM 1.11.04 + SQL 9.0

I still have a lot of huuuuge files to import (like 1 gig notepad files)
I have an awesome program to break them up into whatever size I want. Attached is a picture of a hard drive test - based off this picture what would be the best size to break the files into? 500kb files?

Thanks guys.

You have logging turned off.
We don't support SQL 9.0 beta.

You should try 8.3 or 8.4.

Break up the 1 GB file--> to 500 kb files.

about the 50/50 speeds--> read Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green and Black Hard Drives - CrystalDiskMark v2.2 - Legit Reviews (http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1077/7/)
Or google for other CrystalDiskMark results of the Caviar Black.. EVERYBODY gets/ 100+/100+ speeds..

I jsut got done with 3 weeks of importing and using 9.0

If I un-install it and go with 8.4 will my database stop working?

Yep, you have to start with a new database in 8.4

I was told I could install it to just a different port and it would work...but 9.0 is working fine for me so I think I'll just keep it. Thanks.

a database is not the same as a database server.
But as long as 9.0 is running just keep it.
